Saxy Takes: Let's look past the Bucs and Browns

Teams can have crappy days and this season is super frustrating.    

I'm not happy with this current outfit in the QC but honestly, on a good day: 

• I know this team can beat the Bucs
• I know this team can beat the Browns

If we don't, well then sh*t, lost year, but I believe our ceiling is quite apparent. 

On the other side:

• We have 2 remaining games against the Saints
• Win one decisively (maybe not blowout but at least a classic jump ahead and late save) then I will be somewhat okay.

We have the talent.  I truly think this is a more talented D squad than the SB run.  Donte will be back.  We just have so little room for error now.  The Skins, Lions and Hawks games have absolutely killed us this year.  The Skins and Lions seemed ready to be run over and we made it a speed bump and let them win somehow. 

I give the next two weeks a test.  Clean the two out and beat the Saints or else.  That will be the bare minimum to have me want to retain this mediocre, late-season teasing crew in charge.

Unfortunately, it seems as if we looked past the Lions and Seahawks too. This team can't look past anyone. We've lost to three teams with losing records and we needed a big 4th quarter comeback and a miracle last second 63 yard FG to narrowly avoid losses to two other teams with losing records. It's not like we just have a tough schedule losing hard fought games to good teams. We're losing to bad teams and getting historically blown out by good teams.

idk about the bucs because rivera always seems to handle them but the browns will poop all over us

That is the browns team that went 0-16 last year plus some rookies?   There is no way we are losing to them.   We are a playoff team last year and should/would be this year if not for an inexplicable run of bad kicks/final plays.

Last year means nothing. One of those rookies is a QB and getting that position right (and Mayfield has looked good) can change a team dramatically. It also should be pointed out they've got new/different coaching right now than they did last year. They fired both their head coach and offensive coordinator earlier this year.

After watching the last three weeks, it is hard to believe any opponent on the Panthers schedule going forward doesn't stand a pretty good to excellent chance of walking away with a win.

It is like Ron "Rip Van Winkle" Rivera has been coaching the Panthers this season.

Time for our HC to wake up and realize this is no longer the NFL circa 1985.

I'm saying I'm done with the staff if we can't clear CLE, TB, and the Saint (at least once in decisive fashion).  We must win the next 3 in the row or fire everyone = homer?  

 Hence as a fan, I'm saying screw the one game at a time mantra.  It honestly is an overplayed deal, who cares if some fans are looking ahead at the schedule? 

I think we all know the type of teams we can beat so they need to whip into gear and decisively beat the Saints this year if they want to show us any spark moving forward if the season gets lost.  If they can do that, then they show us something more than they have and we rid the elephant in the room.  We need to pretty much finish 4-1 or better to have a shot at the playoffs.

if Donte doesn't go down on the first play last week than we best Seattle. We need to find a way to come away with TDs in the red zone. We got into the 10 yard line the first two drives and came away with 3 points. That said, we also got robbed and Cam had that first down. We outplayed them. Seattle took deep shots down field. This team NEVER does that.

It was frustrating to watch the Panthers move the ball down the field during the first half, seemingly at will, till they got the ball within the red zone only to come away with minimal or no points.

IMHO Ron made some extremely poor choices that led the Panthers down the road to defeat.  The first time the Panthers were in the red zone, Ron should have taken the easy 3 points (short field goal) and put Carolina on the board.  Those missing 3 points loomed large at the end of the game.

Conversely, at the end of the game on 4th down Ron opted to go for a long field goal rather than a first down.  His chances would have been better to stick with Cam and go for the first.  There was simply too much time left on the clock not to realize the Seahawks would have ample time to march the ball down the field and score again, especially considering how our D was playing at that point.

Ron demonstrated (yet again) that he lacks the situational awareness/game management skills needed to lead this team to the Lombardi.
