Four of their last five at home.

San Fran X two, Arizona, Minnesota, and Kansas City.

They can sleepwalk to 9-7

And they own the tiebreaker over us.

Two more losses and we're probably boned. And that's not real encouraging when you look at our remaining schedule.

We can go 5-0 and miss, though that is incredibly unlikely. 4-1 should get us in. 3-2 could, but it probably won't. If we play to our full potential, we will make the playoffs. Next two are must wins for obvious reasons, same for the Atlanta home game. We can beat New Orleans in Charlotte on MNF, I believe in our offense. We're going to have to get some breaks, but it can be done. I think at worst, we go 3-2, at best 5-0.

You are right...but if we win out we’d be in...scenarios will change weekly...no way those other teams all win out...Seattle could even lose two more

Winng out is not happening. That's a fact well established already.  They have a much better chance of losing out which pisses me off.  They do not control their own destiny.  That chance was pissed away last Sunday.

This same logic also applies in the likely even all the teams drop 1-2 games along the way. If Dallas, Washington, Seattle, and Carolina all finish 10-6 or 9-7, Carolina loses that tiebreaker. It's honestly not very promising the Panthers make the playoffs. Losing to Seattle really f*cked things up.

And the Lions. And the Redskins. It pisses me off that this team was able to beat Brady on the road, outduel Rodgers,  and shred the Vikings defense last year but lost to those 3 sorry teams this year

How do you think we got Rivera?

People used the same arguments back then to suggest that we should hang on to John Fox.

Now Rivera has basically morphed into John Fox, Part Deux.

John Fox never had back to back winning seasons nor playoff appearances.  Of course like I said, if there was an undeniably better coach out there, bring him in.  I just don't want to go down the rabid hole of hiring a bunch of coaches like most teams do.  Rivera proven he can get to the playoffs consistently.

Yea but what I’m saying is that if we win out we’re still in because the teams ahead us play each other and a loss by either of them in said game bumps us up

If Dallas, Seattle, and Washington all win out, the Panthers don't make the playoffs. Dallas would win the NFC East, Washington and Seattle would have the tiebreakers over Carolina. Since there is currently a scenario where the Panthers win out and don't make the playoffs, they do not control their own destiny.
