2016 offseason led to this

This may not be popular, but firing Gettleman was the beginning of the end for the Rivera era. I will concede that Gettleman made some bad draft picks, but those things are 50/50 really. Sometimes you strike gold, sometimes you don't land a good pick. I still believe Richardson really fugged us with the G-man firing and took us a few years back.

We had a real GM for once that knew what he was doing. He was almost done cleaning up the mess created by Hurney. We didn't even get a better GM. We hired the same guy that created the mess. Ya, the same guy we fired. Who does that? Insanity is doing the same thing again and again expecting different results. That whole episode illustrates our priorities as a  franchise. Some veterans' feelings were hurt, so fire the GM. Hopefully Tepper changes that culture.

Gman was not good at drafting but free agent gems he was good. I dont miss gman at all. Why are we so set to like mediocre? Your satisfied to make it to the playoffs and that'  it , satisfied with making it to the SB but not winning it. Human detail the team after the SB by getting rid of Norman. Yes Norman has lost his edge bc he has no Cam to practice against and no leader like like and TD. We had our chance 2016 bit was screwed bc of Gmans pride. Now our front 7 is old and have no youth for back ups out there bc who Gman picked were complete bust.Tried to make up the loss of Norman with signing of Capt to recapture the 2015 but Capt was never really that good to begin with. Has about put us back in a CAP situation with Matt khahil. This is no joke. Rivera is lost as a coach and now we are back to not knowing how to close out games. Depleted defense equals a defeated Rivera.

Players from the 2017 draft are contributing pretty well.

Meanwhile, outside of Wright, 2018 Free Agency was mostly a crapfest.

Honestly, the most positive change to come out of the 2018 offseason is arguably the hiring of Norv Turner, but the defense is offsetting that benefit.

You're reaching. Reid, Clark, Peppers, Anderson are good signings.

Poe is the only questionable signing.

Peppers is old and only showing up once in a while.

Reid plays an obsolete position. To be fair, that's more Rivera's fault than Hurney's.

Clark is a turnstile. Luckily Newton is getting the ball out faster.

Poe is awful.

And don't forget Torrey Smith, whose primary purpose is apparently to take snaps away from younger, better players.

Peppers has been solid. Imagine how bad we'd be without him.

Safety isn't obsolete. Reid has never been exposed as how Colin Jones was vs the Bengals.

Clark isn't a turnstile. He had another good game yesterday. I bet you'd take him over Kalil and Remmers.

Poe hasn't been good.

The trade for Smith was a good one. We got rid of Worley and led to us drafting Action Jackson. He is a damn good #4 WR. It's not Hurney's fault that Rivera loves his veterans.

And Munnerlyn is terrible, huge reason why this pass defense get gashed at times. Clark only playing cause someone decided to sign the wrong Kalil.

With Newton getting the ball out sooner, Clark and Kalil are basically interchangeable.

Box safety is obsolete, and that's what Reid is.

And you don't judge trades by the player you get rid of. Smith is nothing to write home about.

So you wouldn't care if Rivera says Kalil will be the starting LT? Let me remind you.

Yes you do. There is something called addition by subtraction. Again: Smith is a #4 WR.

I'd take a good box safety over Colin Jones  any day.

You can pinpoint a lot of things which would have made a different.

Let say we did not use a shitload of money on Poe, Kalil and Short but uses the money on

Star, Norwell and a FA LT like Whitworth.

We would have started a Oline with Whitworth, Norwell, Kalil, Turner and Moton right know.

Hunrey is back and we are now back in cap hell with players with contracts no were near their value. Its sure is good to be back with Fox and Hurney again. Everything is back to normal, with a piss poor defensive conservative coach and the same radio idiot GM which failed the last time around.

Who are the players that are getting paid above their value?

Really strange how all these problems that started in 2016 somehow skipped the 2017 season and started causing problems in 2018

Good pass rush covers up a garbage secondary (see: 2013). 2017 had a good pass rush. Once that faded the cracks showed
