Why don't we make mid-season coaching changes?

But others do? Will this continue with Tepper?

Cause if so, I do see it being a problem especially when it's warranted. Never forget Ravens fired their OC and went on to win the SB. Why does this organization wait until the building burns down to make changes?

It all honesty it'll be wrong to fire Washington because he shouldn't even be our DC. You mean to tell me nobody up top can force Ron to take over the defense, let Washington go back to the DL for the rest of the year? They're just going to allow this to continue? If the standard up top not set, it's not going to trickle down

Other than that one example, usually when you fire a coach or coaches midseason, the season is lost. While we pretty much believe the season has now been lost, there is a glimpse of possibility they can right the ship. But firing someone would pretty much be sinking the ship. Also, who do we replace Washington with at DC?

I’m guessing (hoping) Tepper is more of a scorch and salt the earth kind of guy and will likely clean slate with his franchise at season’s end.

It’d be nice of Tepper to send a message, but like you pointed out, Washington is another of Ron’s poor decisions bearing no  fruit and with Norv being a first time OC the likeliest of candidates who should be fired is Rivera.

Just an unfortunate mess all around

Most teams won’t fire a coach if they’re mathematically still in playoff contention, it makes no sense to.

Why Ron doesn’t take the playbook from Eric is a mystery to me. He has to know his job is on the line but refuses to take over the defense. Maybe he knows there’s no fixing it and will make himself look worse by calling the plays.

The increase in blitzing against the Seahawks make me think Rivera at least had a hand in the gameplan this week. It was working early on but the Seahawks adjusted, which made those early red zone failures that much more painful.

We are still above .500 at 6-5 right in the thick of things for a wildcard playoff spot.

I don't care how sick of your head coach you are, you don't fire them under that situation.

Mid season firings are for the dumpsterest of fires and teams who have no chance of making a playoff push.

Like it or not, we're stuck with Ron until the end of the season.

I can live with that.

If we're stuck with him beyond that though, that's when I have issues.

    • I want to throw in how much easier it is for a QB to develop and improve with a good oline.  Huge credit to the front office for spending the money on our two guards.  Cade Mays also had a 2nd really good game starting at center.  Love how he has developed and hope he's the real deal. Look at what Stroud is dealing with now in Houston after injuries and problems with their oline.  Strouds accuracy has been greatly affected as it seems like he doesn't trust his protection. Canales is doing a great job developing Bryce.  I think the QB whisperer might be for real. And obviously big props to Bryce.  First round pick that looks horrible in his first year.  Different coaches and systems.  Fans and media are calling him the biggest bust in NFL history and he looked like it in the first two games this year.  Gets benched.  Young man keep his cool and just continued to work and only worry about what he can control.  I hope things continue like this and we end up with a great success story. Bryce Young kept pounding.
    • Outside of Philly (who currently is #3 in pass defense) the rest of our remaining opponents are bottom 1/3 of the League in that regard.  Let's see what Bryce can do versus bad pass Ds.
