Why was Anderson not utilized

Never used him to his potential and then cut him after warming the bench. They do not have a power back at all. Amah is needed to help this Oline get push and open holes on running plays.

Payne and Barner are not exactly bruisers. Along the same mold as CMC, but not nearly as talented. They lost the ability to have the option to mix up the running game. Sure he got pissed off and wanted out after having a thousand yard season in 2017.

Just another reason why Rivera (and Norv), both screwed the pooch. Look what the Saints do with their combo and it is very effective. They should have worked him in instead of laying it all on CMC. Sooner or later the effects of playing  97% of snaps will take its toll.

Leaves me to believe that these guys really don't have a clue on how to utilize players.....Norv less so then Rivera.

Of all the things do criticize the coaching staff for, this ain't it. It's not like Anderson didn't get his chances, I remember him bobbling one right into the defenses hands. The bottom line is that Christian McCaffrey is a fuging unicorn. We have never had a playmaker like him in franchise history, yes even Smitty. It would be coaching malpractice to take him off the field for any other reason than he needs a blow. We don't need a "two back" offense or a redzone back, we have Cam Newton.

That may be true, but that unicorn couldn’t bust up the middle at the goal line and get the tough yards when it counted yesterday.

He also fumbled three times because we are using him like a battering ram with reckless abandon.

That’s on the staff.

Don't agree at all. Cam is a running QB... period. He is one injury away from being unable to be the '2nd running back'.

Have no faith in Payne or Barner to carry the load if CMC gets nicked up or hurt. Anderson could have been the guy to go to if this came to pass.

I think it has a lot to do with Ron Rivera's MO.

Rivera is a "find one thing that works and run it into the ground" type of coach. That's why even during times when there's nothing to be gained by keeping Cam Newton in the game, he's still out there.

The same now applies to McCaffrey.

And why we walked into and out of the Super Bowl with no wrinkles, no adjustments, etc.

Because coaching.

Yeah I wouldn't say we're losing lately because of not using Anderson, but we never used him correctly and yes he COULD have provided a wrinkle we can use.    He's also a great pass catcher.     I expected more creativity with him when we signed him.

We've had this topic a million times. It's pretty clear the Panthers want CMC to be on the field as much as possible, even when he's exhausted. He's extremely productive but my guess is Anderson (rightly so) wanted more playing time and the panthers weren't interested in that prospect.

Also Anderson did have a huge mistake early in the season in the Atlanta game. My guess is between that gaff and his general attitude he landed himself in Rivera's doghouse.
