Unpopular opinion : We are overusing Mccaffrey and it’s not good for the offense

I think at this point, there is some real desperation for a spark.  CMC can deliver those game breaking plays consistently as a RB.  I think the team is leaning on him because he's young and they are able to do so.

I am concerned because we do have other playmakers who need to be given more opportunities (Samuel) to flip the game again.

But defensively, I am most concerned.  Seattle was basically unopposed in the 2nd half.  We had too many breakdowns in the secondary which led to this loss.  For Rivera, this SHOULD be unacceptable.  It should be time to lay into the guys about how this is unacceptable and hold some feet to the fire.  Sure, sometimes you have a bad game, but three in a row?  Not good enough by a large stretch!

Not sure why is organization is so hesitant to use their young weapons but it’s frustrating to say the least.

?  We used the heck out of our young weapons yesterday.

Reception leaders

Christian McCaffrey 11 112 1 11
D.J. Moore 8 91 0 9

The vast majority of our runs and receptions came from players that have been here 1-2 years.

It only looks bad because of games like yesterday where CMC has 28 touches. Keep in mind during Norv’s first stint with San Diego (now Los Angeles), he had LaDanian Tomlinson averaging nearly 25 touches per game (as a rookie).

CMC averages 20 touches a game which is honestly right where he needs to be. In fact, Saquon Barkley actually averages 22 touches per game and their fan base is clamoring for him to get the ball even more.

I wouldn’t worry about overuse simply because we decided to use him as our offense yesterday.

Disagree.  If he weren't so productive with his touches it'd be different.  Good workhorse players get 25-30 touches a game.  He's panned out, and that's coming from someone who was a HUGE critic of his.  I'm a little concerned about the fumbling issue though.

Nobody in today’s nfl gets 30 touches a game

He only ran the ball 17 times.  That is not much at all.  Only problem I see is that he is not a great short yardage runner, and we use him to much in that scenario, but that was only about 3-4 carries.

Irt receiving, its not that much wear and tear on him and we took what the defense gave us.  And it worked.

17 is a lot when your 205 pounds running into the teeth of a defense, plus 11 catches, plus play action  and red options plays in which he’s also getting hit on, then don’t forget blocking where he takes on guys that outweigh him by 50 pounds.

it worked till we force feed him in the redzone

I said 25-30.  Not 30 every single game.  CMC hasn't gotten 25-30 every game either.  I'm just saying when he's working his magic he needs the ball.  There's a guy holding out right now, and that's the big reason why....

But yes, they do.  Melvin Gordon, Todd Gurley, James Connor, Ezekiel Elliot, Saquon Barkley

I think we need to spread out our offense in the redzone. I dont know why I'm seeing just 2 receivers on the field at any point in the game, but that's something I should see for short yardage plays only. We shouldn't limit Cam throwing options when we get down there and we shouldn't limit Cam passing when we get down there. We go straight into run mode/play action mode

We didn't overuse CMC in Detroit, we lost and the offense under-performed. I don't think we had the chance to use him enough in Pitts, that got of hand so quick. We use him a lot and our offense did better than Detroit and Pitts, but we lose again so I respectfully disagree. The offense did enough to win, but Ron not taking 3 and then settling for 3 cost us the game. Our defense is pathetic. Seattle didn't settle for kicking a long FG so they won. Ron got outcoached by Pete as usual. Bet if we had Pete we win yesterday game

Overuse of underuse idk yet, but what I DO know is that this team is out of shape.  DJ one week and CMC the next failed to take it to the house and got tracked down.  While JuJu took and 20 yard pass the length of the field.  Off topic I know, but it is extremely frustrating that you don't have your players in tip top shape

Can anyone tell me what happened with Artis-Payne?  I thought in the previous two seasons he did a good pretty good job as a back up.  I remember when there was a debate on here whether he should take over for Stew right before we drafted CMC.

Glad I'm not only one thinking this.  Was wondering why we didn't mix it up and feed him the ball some, he had some good plays when he got touches in the past.  But yeah....at this rate I feel like CMC is gonna get damaged early.  Kid is awesome but give him a breather!
