Our offense

Look I'm not a coach and I don't play one on tv but can someone please tell me something. Why is our offense look like the most bland, plain simple offense in the league?

Steve Smith is upset that he isn't getting the ball. And rightfully so. Is the only was to get a wideout the ball by throwing down field? No why not directsnap or "wildcat" to Smitty. I watched the Bears/Falcons game on Sunday and Roddy white lined IN THE BACKFIELD and shot out like a tight end and caught a pass. Why no reverses or end around?

So Dewayne Jarrett can only be on the field on 3rd down? Why not have a play where he is the designated receiver on 1st down? No one would be expecting that when they are doubling Smitty. Does he suck that bad? look what happened when Dallas gave Miles Austin a chace. This dude has been here 3 years and has 10 catches.

Full house backfield? Is John Fox worried if D-lo and Stewart are on the field at the same time they will both get hurt at the same exact moment and will be left without a feature back?

Why is the Giants and Saints seem like they have 10 Wide Receivers on their roster? I know Rosario and King have gotten into the action lately but it seems like if it's not Smith or Moose than it's nothing. Even decent QBs will have days where they have multiple players with a catch.

Why not even put Smitty in the slot? And didn't I see #28 practice with the wideouts over the summer? This is why defenses have their way with us...

Yeah, I agree 100%. It's absolutely bewildering why we are so limited on offense. We had similiar problems when Henning was the OC and the common denominators are Fox and Delhomme. I think Fox's ultra-conservative philosophy and Delhomme's fading skills (which were average to begin with) are handcuffing this offense IMO.

This has been discussed as nauseum but I love it each time. It's almsot painful to watch our offense compared to other teams. It's as if we struggle to do the most simple things while other teams are so fluid. We seemingly go from 1st to 3rd down in seconds as well. I just don't grasp how we have to force our way down the field when other teams can just pass, pass, pass, run, pass, run...

Okay, I do grasp why (Fox, Jake, Davidson) but still...I don't get why they have to be SO stubborn and rarely change their ways.

I just love how a third grader can predict when we run and which direction it will be to. I mean, c'mon Fox... does he honestly believe the other team is not watching where the FB/TE in motion is lining up?

Ex: Motion the TE to the left, lined up behind the LT/LG... result = run play to the left between tackles. It's not even funny how predictable we are anymore. :(

    • The retirement thing is just a convenient excuse from Tepper. I'm sure if the team was trying to bring him on officially he would do it in a heartbeat and the league wouldn't bat an eye at it. He's not getting any other calls and we know there's a direct line of communication. You telling me no other team has put up a photo of an active player who left? I have a hard time believing the league would flag a MVP display, literal team history, as tampering. Moving on from JR is clearly bull too when we're parading Luke and Smitty around. It's Cam. Tepper knows that if Cam is brought on in any capacity, as long as he looks athletic to the average fan there's going to pressure to put him in when we're struggling at QB. They've decided he's not worth that but I think is a huge mistake. The organization stands to lose more burning this bridge than he does.
    • I've been here through it all my friend. So when I say I've seen how this turns out folks really should listen. But they won't. So I continue to be entertained by fair weather fans that talk down to me as if I don't know squat. That's fine. Their in for some painful reality checks.
    • Because Chinn Is not a God Damn Free Safety! He is a Strong Safety/LB and none of our coaches could figure that out.
