Let's talk about Detroit.......(he said reluctantly with a palpable sense of disappointment)

Yanno folks.  I would’ve loved to just hideout under the radar till after the Panthers found a way to get their collective shyt together, but I just couldn’t resign myself to that.   I have to face the damn music and admit to you all that my nephew is indeed a chimpanzee.  My niece is absolutely a baboon.   I am in fact… sigh..

A monkey’s uncle.  Damn it all.

Moving forward though…

Let’s take a live look at Broku this week

Is it all fine though? Can I find some measurable degree of comfort in regards to this team?  Is Cam still a Panther?  Is CMAC still on the roster???? Will there be a day soon in the future where Sandman Samuel ISN’T criminally underused??  I’ve still got lots of hope with this team but if the Panthers lose at home Sunday I’m probably refi-ing the house to be able to afford the enormous premium that will be placed on what little hope there will be left in the Carolinas.  Tryin to corner the market share there yanno.

I could go the boring route for this write-up but let’s switch it up a bit here.   The things worth talking about from this game come down to  A) Ron Rivera’s hotseat B) The controversial winners and losers then obviously we’ll finish up with final thoughts.

FIRST UP

CURRENT CONDITION OF RON RIVERA’S SEAT:

Answer:

Lukewarm

Ron Rivera is like that guy you really like at the office and you really want him to hit his sales goals but he just hasn’t closed enough deals the last few weeks.  This is the week where Tepper starts thinking “damn do I need to fire this guy wtf happened in Detroit??”  The reason I say lukewarm is because let's face it, Ron ain’t goin anywhere unless we get embarrassed by the saints and miss the playoffs.  Those are just the facts everybody.  When you’ve got tenure sometimes unfortunately you get the benefit of the doubt.  Me personally, I can’t get on board of the FIRE RIVERA ship until we miss the playoffs.  Let’s wait and see.   Nobody knows why Ron isn’t giving the sandman more snaps.  I don’t know either.

Let’s take a look at my absolute favorite Ron quote of the week RE: Marquis Haynes

Please tell me you don’t need me to point out the obvious hypocrisy here.  Here’s good ol’ Ron willing to give a rookie a bigger piece of the pie, BUT HE ISN’T WILLING TO GIVE CURTIS SAMUEL A PREDOMINANT SHARE OF THE WR REPS??!?!?  RON............ARE YOU SURE YOU DON’T WANNA SEE IF SAMUEL CAN….. YANNO…. BE A SUPERSTAR IN THIS LEAGUE??!?

What. A. Fugging. Hypocrite.  This is one of those quotes that really… really gets me close to saying this guy needs to go yesterday.  I can understand when Ron says some off the wall shyt in regards to a lot of things, but I can’t stand it when he contradicts himself.  It makes no sense, at all.  Hate to slander Rivera here but this quote absolutely deserves scrutiny.   Let’s move on to Winners and Losers.

WINNERS:

WR:  DJ Moore

DJ had a phenomenal game.  Loved the big play ability.  He handled his business and deserves a huge portion of the offense to run through him.  Minus the Washington game, good things typically happen when the ball goes to DJ.  It was a damn shame he couldn’t get into the endzone on that 85 yard catch.  I’m sure we can probably blame Funchess there though, somehow.

YEAR TO DATE WINNERS LIST

CAM: 2

DJM: 2

CURTIS SAMUEL: 1

CMAC: 2

MATSKO & THE WHOLE OFFENSIVE LINE: 1 (lmao I’m starting to think I jinxed them)

LOSERS:

We’ve only got two losers today.  One is obvious and one I’ll probably be impaled for but whatever.  First loser is:

DEVIN FUNCHESS

I’m really not going to kick a dead horse here.  All I will say is that this guy is Brandon LaFell all over again.  I can honestly say that Funchess had a very, very integral role in Sunday’s loss.  Completely unacceptable.  I have no problem with Funchess walking next year and you shouldn’t either.   I mean for the love of god have you ever seen someone drop important pass after important pass??   CAM WAS 4-4 FOR 80 YARDS BEFORE FUNCHESS DROPPED A TD.  I mean holy mother of horseshit.  Can you have a worse day at the office than that?  Hot. Damn.

Next loser

CAM NEWTON

Look.  I’m going to shoot you all straight.  When the biggest play of the game occurred, Cam failed.  I hold Cam to a higher standard than any player or even COACH on the Panthers.  It doesn’t matter if Ron put Cam in a terrible position.  Cam. Simply. Missed.  Cam is the leader of this team, he cannot miss that throw.  You can talk about all the mistakes that were made earlier in the game, but when it came down to it……  Cam missed.  The funny thing is that YOU ALL KNOW I AM CAM’S BIGGEST SUPPORTER.  I never talk shyt about cam, but when it came to last Sunday…..   he failed his teammates and he failed when it mattered the most.  He’ll be better next time.  On to Seattle.

FINAL THOUGHTS:

The Panthers lost to a 3-6 team.  Those are my final fugging thoughts.  I don’t care if it was close.   I don’t care how many “missed opportunites” the Panthers had, I don’t even care how many kicks Gano missed.  The Panthers lost to a 3-6 team.   Unacceptable.  If I’m Ron Rivera I’m finding any way to tell this team that if they don’t step it up and act like they give a damn, that I’ll be fired.  What is with this team when it comes to any comfort they allow themselves??   “Oh we’ve got a 2 game cushion in the wildcard” Cushion gone.  “Oh we’ve got a 28 point lead at halftime” Lead gone.  This team is not quite getting how everything works.  I’m really concerned that there isn’t enough players on this team that COLLECTIVELY feel like they can beat the Saints.  I hate to say it, but……… Ron’s message might be getting stale.   Huge game at home versus Seattle next week.   A home game couldn’t have come at a better time.  It’s my birthday Sunday so for the love of god I hope the Panthers get a win.  It IS a must win.   Let’s go 31-21 Panthers.   We’ll see the team we’re used to seeing on Sunday….  I mean we better right?

That’s all folks thanks for reading again.

TLDR! jk i read it.

I heard Darin Gantt on the radio today say that Ron might be scared of breaking Samuel.  Theory that some of Samuel in every game is better than none of him if he gets hurt.  I can kinda get behind that idea, he is injury prone.

You should, imo, change your loser from Cam to Ron.  That 2 point should never had been atempted.  By him atempting the 2 point conversion shows he doesnt believe in his team to pull out the win in OT against an inferior opponent.  Cam played lights out.

Lmao almost got me with the TLDR haha

I agree with you.  Ron sucked but that was pretty obvious.     Cam had an excellent game but....

First prize is a Cadillac El Dorado

Second prize is a set of steak knives.

Third prize is you’re fired.

Here's my two cents on why I'm willing to give Cam a pass on the missed throw.

1) Why is the fug are we calling a 2-point conversion that takes 4 seconds to develop?  Either that was the designed play call or it was a sandlot, drawn up in the dirt "just get open" type of call.  Just about every other team in the league in that situation would have hit a quick bang-bang type of play to exploit just the slightest bit of separation on the first cut of the route.  Obviously we went a different route...

2) I heard that Cam indicated he just started to take off and run left as the pressure was starting to come from the right.  At the last second he saw Wright break free and he tried to flip it to him but his hips were completely open to the left (hence he was starting to run).  Again, if we weren't running a 4 second developing play...Cam would have never been put in that position and caught in no-man's land with his hips and throwing motion.  On the surface the throw looks like a missed layup, but I think not only was it not that simple but clearly he never should have been put in that position.

I have no qualms for anyone willing to give cam a pass.  It wasn’t an ideal situation

I feel ya. There was definitely a dark cloud in the Carolina’s this week, despite the otherwise beautiful weather. Don’t enjoy remembering this game but did really enjoyed your write-up. Appreciate you taking the time.
