Let's talk about Detroit.......(he said reluctantly with a palpable sense of disappointment)

I feel ya. There was definitely a dark cloud in the Carolina’s this week, despite the otherwise beautiful weather. Don’t enjoy remembering this game but did really enjoyed your write-up. Appreciate you taking the time.

Well shucks thanks it sucked to write this up

I figured we would lose and we did. It' a Ron Rivera team. Cam played great everyone on offense played great but Fun Fun. The defense couldn't stop a 3 win team without the number wr and rb was all they really had and they could not stop him. The loss is on Ron bc he should have pulled Funchess, changed up the defense if Kerrion had not gotten hurt the lead would have been more cause we couldn't stop him and on top of that wr3 and 4.  Defense continued to play just like it did in Steelers land with time off. Loss is solely on Ron. Poor decisions and an uninspired defense is Ron' fault.

That’s the thing,  this team is uninspired until they’re inspired.  It’s insane.  It’s always extremes

Nice writeup Broku. I am surprised you didn't give Gano an L for his stellar efforts. I think he's the absolute opposite of a clutch kicker and always will be.

I agree 100% on letting Funchess walk. One thing that really bothered me was that he tried to absolve himself of the blame after the game by saying he's not the only person on the team. In a contract year for a guy who claims to be a #1 WR, to play that poorly in your homecoming game and then pass off the blame says a lot.

On Rivera - I think he's a big part of the problems we're having. Loyalty is great, but when your loyalty has proven to be a bad decision, put on your big boy pants and fix it. Rivera is too loyal to certain vets (cough Silatolu and Kalil) but I think what hurts worse is his loyalty to his assistants. The defensive coaching staff is a joke. Richard Rodgers and Brady Hoke were mistakes, and as great as Eric Washington has been as DL coach, he's in way over his head at DC. Rivera is killing this team by refusing to man up and make a change. When you have studs on all three levels of the defense (Jackson and Reid, Keuchly and TD, Short) and look as bad as we do on a weekly basis, something is seriously wrong.

Would’ve, but he won us a game earlier this year. Too easy to pick on Gano

Here's my two cents on why I'm willing to give Cam a pass on the missed throw.

1) Why is the fug are we calling a 2-point conversion that takes 4 seconds to develop?  Either that was the designed play call or it was a sandlot, drawn up in the dirt "just get open" type of call.  Just about every other team in the league in that situation would have hit a quick bang-bang type of play to exploit just the slightest bit of separation on the first cut of the route.  Obviously we went a different route...

2) I heard that Cam indicated he just started to take off and run left as the pressure was starting to come from the right.  At the last second he saw Wright break free and he tried to flip it to him but his hips were completely open to the left (hence he was starting to run).  Again, if we weren't running a 4 second developing play...Cam would have never been put in that position and caught in no-man's land with his hips and throwing motion.  On the surface the throw looks like a missed layup, but I think not only was it not that simple but clearly he never should have been put in that position.

But in reality that play took maybe two seconds.

Also in reality, if you go back and actually watch the play, Wright broke free long before Cam properly read the play and long before pressure as even close to Cam.

Ron called a play to win the game. Had he relied on Gano and missed  or played conservative got the point and lost in OT you and others on this forum would be flaming him for doing so.

I liked the play. I liked the aggression and trust in his team to win. Everyone played well on that play except Cam.

Again, in reality, Can was slow to read the play and by the time he saw Wright he still had time to make a throw and he fuged up. Time to be real about that and I’d bet Cam himself would agree.

Franchise QBs are not put in easy situations, that’s the job, so the whole ‘he never should have been in that situation’ argument makes absolutely zero sense for those who watch NFL games not just the Panthers as well as those who believe Cam does not need to be babied and can and should make that throw in his eighth year.

Seems to me if you argue Cam couldn’t have made that throw due to his situation then you’d have to also say he is not a top tier QB.

Good write up and most of it goes without saying.   One question I would like to ask is why are we so much better at home than on the road?  If there is a theme to this season it would be our road losses.

If I had to guess, I’d say the panthers are way better at home because their routines are more consistent for home games.  Honestly, being a bad team on the road is sort of a red flag for coaching unfortunately.  We’ll see the rest of the way

For me stat of the game was Cam rushing 2 attempts for 2 yards, it sticks out a mile away.

TLDR! jk i read it.

I heard Darin Gantt on the radio today say that Ron might be scared of breaking Samuel.  Theory that some of Samuel in every game is better than none of him if he gets hurt.  I can kinda get behind that idea, he is injury prone.

You should, imo, change your loser from Cam to Ron.  That 2 point should never had been atempted.  By him atempting the 2 point conversion shows he doesnt believe in his team to pull out the win in OT against an inferior opponent.  Cam played lights out.

Funny that he's never been afraid of "breaking" Newton. Just the opposite, honestly. It seems like he's willing to hitch his ride to Newton until the wheels fall off.

When teams do good at home but can't win on the road, there's generally a very simple explanation.

When you need all or at least a lot of the conditions to be in your favor to come out on top, it's because you don't have what it takes to overcome adversity.

In other words, they're not very good.

CAM NEWTON

Look.  I’m going to shoot you all straight.  When the biggest play of the game occurred, Cam failed.  I hold Cam to a higher standard than any player or even COACH on the Panthers.  It doesn’t matter if Ron put Cam in a terrible position.  Cam. Simply. Missed.  Cam is the leader of this team, he cannot miss that throw.  You can talk about all the mistakes that were made earlier in the game, but when it came down to it……  Cam missed.  The funny thing is that YOU ALL KNOW I AM CAM’S BIGGEST SUPPORTER.  I never talk shyt about cam, but when it came to last Sunday…..   he failed his teammates and he failed when it mattered the most.  He’ll be better next time.  On to Seattle.

Huddlers don't like criticism on their favorite players. I believe CAM will bounce back & manage the offense down the field for 4 qtrs.
