Funchess not at practice today

Back injury for Devin Funchess. RR says he’ll see how Funchess looks over the next two days of practice - overheard Funchess saying he was going to be alright in the locker room.

Ron Rivera indicated Devin Funchess is day to day (back)

Funchess is literally the only receiver on our roster who can play the "X" receiver position. Has the size and quickness to beat press coverage on short routes while also the straight line speed to go down the sideline. I know we're all jonesing for Curtis Samuel and DJ Moore lining up wide opposite each other, but whichever one has the defenses best press corner on them won't be able to do a damn thing. Funchess is important because if nothing else, he draws the other team's best DB.

And he does a terrible job playing the X when he can't freaking catch the ball. Sorry, id rather have DJ, Samuel, Wright, and Byrd on the field. Torrey Smith and Devin Funchess are trash. With Olsen, CMC, and Thomas also on the roster, we don't need Smith and Funchess.

Didn’t his cousin pass before the Eagles game? I remember one of the local writers saying he missed the funeral due to the traveling from the team that week. They might be giving him a makeup day to be with family before Thanksgiving

Geez, he couldn't even catch a funeral?

Back injury?  Sounds serious.  Hopefully the coaches give Fun Fun plenty of time on the bench to fully recover.

well this should prove interesting if the coaches/players don't know why

Looks like RR laying the ground work for sitting him for a while. Must have been getting hot in the kitchen with all the media chatter. Give the future stars a taste of starting.

This is STRAIGHT bullsht which I see happening it's sad Ron can't handle his business like this is a performance based business. He's setting up a heavy dose of Samuel and DJ using injury once again as the main reason they'll probably ball out and no looking back. We don't have to stop being his teammate bc somebody out performed him it's a long season his contributions will and are needed just not as our number one or two or three option. But honestly it's a team game be dam happy and sit back based off your drops and lack of production don't use back heel ankle or any bullsht excuse did anyone see him faking a injury when Curtis scored like dude celebrate with your brethren don't look down at the ground you sour grape that's corny asf.

In before the jokes abo.......nevermind. I doubt this has anything to do with his performance on Sunday. He dropped some passes, it happens.

No, it doesn't. Not by any '#1 receiver', not by a receiver on his contract year and not one who's been in the league 4 years. 5-6 drops? In a must win game? The reason why it never happens is because no coach with the talent we have would be playing him.

I don't blame him. He shouldn't be out there as the first look like he is. We have 3 other receivers I trust more than him but I have absolutely NO DOUBT Rivera will run this poo in the ground trying to play him over the young guys.

    • That excuse would be interesting if it was really true. In the first halves, we’ve given up 50 points. In the 2nd halves we’ve given up 23 points. Both the Chargers and the Saints scored TDs on their opening drives, before Young even stepped on the field. The Saints scored on every single possession they had until we finally stopped one drive in the 4th quarter. This D has been run over, regardless of how bad Young played.
