Hornets in talks for Bradley Beal

It's not just what they want for Beal, it's what it would take for them to take on Batum contract. Getting rid of Batum alone is going to take a first round pick or young player, then you start to talk about what it would take to get Beal from Washington. That's going to be another young player, draft picks and expiring contracts. 

 

Add these two together and you get multiple young players, multiple fist round draft picks..ext..ext..

I like our young guys but I think you're overvaluing them a bit here. Monk hasn't really shown anything yet and while Bridges looks like a player its not like he's been some amazing rookie or anything, he just doesn't totally suck like most of our other rookies.  Add in that we would be dumping a bum with a bad contract in either Williams or Batum (which is even worse than a bad contract) and, the idea this is some kind of huge haul for the Wizards is a mischaracterization imo, even if you throw in a 1st which is probably going to be in the late teens, at best, next year.

I understand, but even then, giving up TWO first round picks AND Monk+Bridges is just too much.

Exactly. No way we get both the best player in the trade AND dump the worst contract in the trade without giving up a ton of assets.

Not overvaluing our young players, just being realistic...  i like Beal and definitely want him here over that bum Batum, but I feel like Beal has always been overhyped.  He is a really good player, but 2 firsts and 2 lottery pick prospects good?

Oh I agree. I'm not as high on Beal as are some others but that doesn't change the fact it'll take a lot to get him if we go that route.

Regardless if its Williams or Batum, the Hornets will have to add to the pot to make that attractive. 

 

so if straight up trade would be Lamb, Monk and a first round pick top 3 protected. Adding Batum or William's to match salary means you've got to add something else to the mix for Washington to legitimately consider it. I.E and extra first round pick plus Bacon/Willy or Bridges. 

 

That's just what it's going to take.

If you say so, sure why not. Those aren't my words just the reporters for both teams saying the same thing package wise on back to back days. Both said it would take a combination of first round pick plus monk/bridges as starting point for a trade to get considered by Washington.

Bridges isn't getting traded, it almost certainly has to include any combo of Batum/Monk/Lamb/Biz + pick.

The max I’d give up is Marvin (filler, but on two years instead of Batum’s 3), Kaminsky (expiring), Lamb (expiring), Monk (main piece), unprotected first round pick, and unprotected second round pick.

And tbh, i think this is all much ado about nothing...  how many times has a trade ever happened after bonnell got wind of it?  Unless things have changed with Mitch in charge now, he was the guy they always fed disinfo to...  so, i'm thinking there is some other angle at play here.

We probably called and made a feeler offer and the Wiz leaked it knowing they will get a half dozen better offers.
