They had one of the greatest drafts of the last 2 decades and returned to elite form because of it. 

 

Yeah I mean who knows. Maybe the saints draft an even better QB next year. 

But there’s no doubt the Saints wanted Mahomes and they were one pick away from having him. As a rival fan I’m sure as poo glad you guys didn’t get him. He’d be terrifying under Payton.

The part about Brees’ agent was buried in an article I read a few weeks back that I’m having trouble finding or remembering what site. It was a major NFL writer I recall. I’ll find it though. Everything else is easily available starting with the Nola.com link.

Hey man, you find it, and I'll give you props, even if I believe it is a nonstory, and the Saints had one of the best drafts of all time lol.

I won't say he had him over Mahomes. He never stated where he had Mahomes on the board, only stated Shon was top 3. He just said that they felt good that they would get one of the two.

In the LR, Mahomes is a significantly better pick than Lattimore.

I couldn’t care less what Payton said about who was over who on the board. 

I want to see you produce some substantial evidence that validates the rumor that you said.

You say it was “buried in an article you read the other day”, if it was that big of a bombshell to report, why didn’t you post the thread then? You obviously mustn’t have thought it was that important then to read and discard it.

Funny how that one “major writer” wrote an article containing that and absolutely no one else in the national or local media picked it up...

I get what you're saying brother. Short term success vs. long term stability. Not that Shon can't be great for us for a long time, but if we have no QB, it won't matter. 

At the end of the day, he was taken before our pick, so it's not as if we passed on him. I just think the argument can be made that if we win a SB with this core, it was a win for the Saints.
