USA Today on how the Panthers are absolutely dumb for not playing Curtis Samuel

At least we're not the other ones who see it.  That and the ridiculous Ron excuse.

Hopefully, some of this news gets back to Ron Ron

Maybe it can even motivate Fun Fun

I'll just continue to watch our superstar gunner on the punt team and imagine him running a deep route.

Rivera has just never been good when it comes to setting a depth chart or playing time, and he's loathe to admit mistakes.

I'm beginning to accept that we've probably gone about as far as we can go with him.

Yea, I think I’ve come to that realization as well. I’m starting to believe it’s time to move on.

I know what john fox would have done...doubled down and then pretty much only let Samuel see the field from the sideline cause he wasn't going to let anyone tell him what to do.

rivera is in danger of trending that way.

the team sees it (remember luke's comments from his mic'ed up video a couple weeks back?), we see it, now the national media sees it.

we've got incredible dynamic talent on this team and we keep funchess on the field because we want to build back his confidence after dropping the ball 6 times in a row.

rivera has got to move on from that loyal bent to focusing on winning and making sure the guys that give us the best chance to score are on the field.

I think it's possible at this point that getting humiliated against the Saints might be enough to put Rivera out of a job.

We finished off a couple of Saints Head Coaches with embarrassing losses (including one where we needed the total points scored tie breaker so we just ran it up on them). I guess its only fair they return the favor.

Those TD catches by Moore and Samuel showed the difference between guys like them and guys like Funchess. How they got open, how they climbed the ladder to reel in relatively tough catches. Meanwhile Funchess is dropping balls that hit him right between the numbers when he goes completely uncovered by the defense. Moore and Samuel are playmakers. Funchess is a bum.

Then the difference between guys like Cam and guys like Funchess was on display after the game. Cam stood there after going 25/37 (with his #1 WR dropping 5 passes) for 357 yards and 3 TDs vs. 1 INT and took responsibility for the loss because he threw one errant pass all day on that failed two point conversion. Meanwhile, Funchess claims that this "ain't all on Funch" and how he's just one of 11 out there after dropping five fuging passes. Honest to God, I wouldn't have been opposed to cutting him right there on the spot after that.

With the Panthers’ season now teetering on the edge after two straight losses, maybe Rivera will come to his senses and start playing his best receiver more than 20 snaps a game. It’s become clear that the Panthers defense isn’t very good, and if this team is going to hang with other playoff contenders, it will have to start scoring more points. Playing the NFL’s most efficient touchdown-scorer should help.

problem is we have a defensive minded coach.

I think Tepper knows when a stock has peaked and is about to decline. I think he get one more year if we make it to the playoffs. If not we can expect the house to be spotless.

This despite the fact that we have spent the majority of our draft picks and free-agent signings on defense in the Rivera era.

You have been spot on with Ron refusing to adapt to the times, and you’re right about our resources going towards the defense. Sad thing is with how far our def has regressed, it looks like we’ll have to allocate most of this off seasons resources to the defense, as well.

Yeah, I'd love to get a young LT that could anchor that side of the line for years, but the need on defense on top of needing another center might prevent that.

Maybe we've got the LT I'm dreaming of with Moton, fingers crossed.

I think it's possible that John Madden may have done Rivera something of a disservice with his words.

On the surface, his encouragement to "be yourself" was good. The problem is it also reinforced Ron's stubbornness to refuse change.

And thus, here we are.

I think we do, but we stubbornly insist on keeping him on the right while Chris Clark makes "lookout" blocks.

Trickle down effect. When Ron first became coach he excepted responsibility and had fire in his belly. That led to a team that was tough as nails. Somewhere between then and now he's fought so hard for him and his team to show no emotion that we have a flat no fire team. Even Cam doesn't get upset anymore.
