Is this what we want the NFL to be?

"...I could have called better plays down the stretch..."

Andy Reid in post game interview.

That's a coach, taking responsibility

Wrong thread, disregard.

Can’t remember Ron ever saying that after a game. Or admitting he sucks at time management.

Im old, 38, this is arena football to me. I see harder hits in the LFL. I miss the days of offenses feared going across the middle cuz they knew they would get blasted and end up on espn's YOU GOT JACKED UP segment. Now if there is an ooooohh by the crowd its a flag. Also the flag only caters to the big market teams or a certain popular player. NBA was proven to be rigged last decade. Ive been saying the NFL has been so for a while, not 100%, but at least a 30% nudge a certain way when they need it.

Bottom line, I hate it, but the high flying offense is here to stay and we need to adapt with it. We wont unless Tepper brings in a guy that will do it.

I've watched less football this season then I've ever watched. Turned off last night's game because I found it boring as hell. Havent even watched all the Panthers games either. New NFL is boring, I don't mind points being scored but I want see big hits over the middle, QBs being destroyed by hits. power runs and teams dominating the Los with power football more then I want to watch 100 points get scored and goobles of touchdowns by every team each week.

I would love it if it was the Panthers putting up numbers like that!  I feel sorry for the defense, any team.  It is hard enough to play defense, they need to let the safeties or corners get just a little aggressive...otherwords....don't freaking flag a defender over a tiny shirt tug that clearly didn't affect the runner, an obvious shirt pull that clearly had affect...then ok.  It is still a hairy situation, but let them play, fight it out.

It’s all about fantasy numbers now. Lots of people will watch football only because they’re in a fantasy league and Goodell and his clowns know this. They also assume that the hardcore fans will continue to watch because they’re addicted to it.

This is the more logical and down to earth response. Its a BUSINESS. Tepper bought a BUSINESS. Its all to make MONEY. Noone gives a damn about fans. All of them, from the NFL brass, to the team owners ( we all love Tepper so much...ready to win and all that bullshit) only care about seperating you from your cash. Buy those PSL's. Sell those tix to opposing fans. Buy those 10 dollar cups opf warm beer and pay 25 bucks for parking.

Tepper has so many of you in your feelings..thinking because he built himself up (JR did also) and because he seems to have energy to win (JR did also 20 years ago when we was a much younger man) that somehow the formula has changed.

It hasn't.

Sort of like Nick Foles?

And Cam's accuracy has been excellent this season.

Nick Foles hasn’t been playing this year.

Yes, Cam has been good but how good have his deep passes been? Can Cam and co win a shootout vs Brees, Big Ben, etc.

No, not consistently.

Cam (like so many other good QBs) needs a strong defense to be successful. We saw that in 2015. He cannot compete tit-for-tat with guys who can consistently thread the needle 60 yards at will.

That’s my point. There used to be many ways to wins. It now seems like there is only one way to win, and that way heavy favors the most accurate downfield QBs.

Drew Bree’s has not had a defense in recent years and their team sucked until they drafted a running game and their defense has come together.

so what you say isn’t true— the saints are one of the most run heavy teams in the league and their defense is really coming together.

if you put those 2 factors with a HOF quarterback you have a complete team.

so again,.. what you say is totally wrong

If we acknowledge how much the NFL has changed, and most of us have, is it then time that we change our expectations in terms of defensive performance?

Are we being too hard on KK, Poe, Luke and TD? What about Washington? Is he that much worse than his predecessors or has the rules changed to the extent that his job is a lot more difficult than before.

This isn't to say they get a pass. Just that what looks like bad defense may be the new average.

I've been thinking the same thing. Besides the rules now favoring the offense, offensive holding isn't getting called at all it seems. Let alone O lineman blocking downfield when they shouldn't. Payton and McVay have figured out how to stop defenses and have QBs that can score often. Some one needs to figure out the other side. I'm hoping some defensive genius figures it out and then the rest of the NFL has got the formula.

When the points are high for both teams, it's not necessarily a boring game. MNF's game was actually an ugly game as @Moorgan said, pretty exciting. It's when it's a blowout game like 48-7 that it becomes hard to watch. I do prefer low scoring defensive battles.
