Ron was right. This is what you cried for.

I don’t think he has much to do with who on offense plays. Yes he speaks to the media about it but I think Norv has 100% control of the offense including snap counts. Not sure why Norv isn’t playing Samuel though.

I mean to be fair part of it maybe is just simply Samuel isn’t Norv’s guy. DJ Moore is, but Samuel is more a by-product.

Perhaps the reason could be a medical precaution for Samuel after what happened with his heart, which ultimately could’ve led to him having less snaps.

With that being said Ron knew all of this and he decided to no longer be a "coward" and play for overtime. Many of you guys here complain about Ron after every loss and even most wins and you wanted him to have more "balls" as you call it. and get behind your team.

We pay the head coach for his brains, not his balls.  Balls are what you need when brains arent getting it done.

All the people who agree and support going for two there aren't considering the entire situation.  Has nothing to do with balls or risk taking or whatever you want to call it.  There were three potential situations to unfold when we scored the TD.

1.  We take the extra point.

In this scenario, Detroit gets the ball back, game tied.  Obviously, they'd like to win so our defense has to come up with a stop.  Now, the good news here is that our defense really only needs one big negative play.  Get that, and Detroit plays for OT, which gives our offense at least one more chance with the ball.  This is a positive outcome for us.

2.  We make the two point conversion.

In this scenario, Detroit gets the ball back, behind.  In this case, they are going to throw the kitchen sink at us because they have nothing to lose.  There is no chance our offense has any role to play in the outcome of the game.  This outcome is a push.  I honestly like our offense (minus Funchess) an awful lot this season.

3.  We miss the two point conversion.

In this scenario, we lose.  End.

The best case scenario for us in going for two was a push.  It's the wrong call.  The only chance to get our best unit involved in the outcome was to take the point, tie the game and hope for the best.

Our offense had already scored TWICE in the fourth quarter.  They were ROLLING.  Play for the tie, hand the ball and the game to them in OT and say "Go win it".

Ron Rivera ....lets see...........he takes risks where he doesn't need to...................and doesn't take risks where he needs to.

This guy interviewed for 9 other HC jobs and was turned down before the Panthers hired him..........what did we see that 9 other NFL teams didn't?

Well its obvious........nothing.

The first press conference I watched this guy conduct and the way he stuttered and struggled trying to answer questions I thought to myself "what the hell is going on here?"

Exactly this.

If the OP thinks being SITUATIONALLY AWARE while being aggressive on 4th downs and 2 pt conversions means that those of us in favor of that should have been in favor of what Ron did in this last game, he has no clue what he's talking about.

my biggest problem isn't the decision. my biggest problem is the decisions and actions that led to us being in that situation to begin with.

that game should have been won long before that. we should have had 11 more points than we did in that moment.

I'm not mad about the two point conversion try. I'm mad that our team played like crap all the way up to that point to put us there. The defense was atrocious. Luke Kuechly looked hungover out there, and I'm pretty sure he doesn't drink. The entire defense looks lost at numerous times during the game. Devin Funchess is an okay receiver, not a number one, and that's okay. It's up to the coach to pull him for a few plays if he drops two or three straight passes. It's not like he was having to climb the ladder to get them; they all hit him right in the hands. Players get the yips, it happens. It's up to the coach to make the call to spell them and play the hot hand like Moore and Samuel. Ron is a great leader of men for the most part, but he always seems to be two steps behind in game management.

No issue with the 2 point try.  My issue is that our offense isn't dropping 30, 40 points a game!  I mean...Our QB is elite?  No?

I just want to blow out a fudging team.....the Saints spanked the Eagles!  I wanna spank a team for crying out loud!

Rivera doesn't believe in blowing teams out. If they're up by 2+ TDs, he throttles down the offense and puts the defense in prevent. And then when the game is close again, he looks to Cam to bail the team out even though he's been shut down for the past 1.5 quarter.

The point is ya'll would still cry if he played for overtime and we lost. The only thing going Carolinas way yesterday was the play of Cam Newton and DJ Moore.... Thats about it. It was the right call. Cam just missed the throw.

Everyone would also gripe if we kicked the extra point and missed it. Then the why didn’t Ron go for two crowd comes out. It’s lose-lose for him unless we win the game. He made the right call. Our defense was porous, and Gano missed two chip shots, and almost another.

SOme of you are incapable of grasping the simplest concepts it’s kind of mind blowing.

We don’t want Rivera to have “bigger balls” and to “go for it” more. We want him to make smart fuging decisions....

This. End thread.

I actually loved the decision, but I would have had Cam do a roll out for the play call. Give him two passing options or he can just tuck it and dive for the endzone.

In that situation you have to run the play you are ABSOLUTELY sure is going to score. What better option than Cam rolling out?
