“Missed Opportunities”

I feel like these threads would be different and everyone would be trashing Gano if we converted. I said we shouldn't trust that trash and go for two, plus most likely losing in OT. Go for the win. Norv needed a play drawn up and it was a terrible play design. There was a LB/S screening Cam in front of end zone, plus the potential of Cam having a broken ankle b/c of the non-call earlier in the game that cause me to throw my phone down a hallway. You know what's worked even with Shula? Cam on a naked bootleg out of the I-Formation with a fake hand off. We would have gotten two. As soon as we lined up shotgun, i knew we were fuged. Even before the injury, why wasn't Cam mobile yesterday? That team didn't want to travel to Detroit.

Like the opportunity to plant Funchess on the bench?  That kind of opportunity?  Or did he mean something different . . . asking for a friend.

Several people have mentioned benching Funchess, but I'm not sure we can sadly. Funchess plays the X reciever spot, neither Moore or Samuel know that spot. Smith may, but he was out. How are Moore or Samuel going to replace Funchess when they dont know the routes? If I'm correct, I think this is the case.

Go home Ron, you're drunk. Exactly how many balls does a guy need to drop in order to justify taking him out of the game? Because Funchess dropped 5. Nearly half of our incomplete passes yesterday were balls dropped by #17.

It's not as simple as taking him out. He plays the X reciever role. He's the only one on the team that knows that role.  Moore was supposed to learn it but had trouble picking up his own receiver spot, and Samuel due to rehabbing all off season and missing part of training camp didnt learn it either.

Thats not to say you dont yank Funch for a play or two, but whoever replaces him you have to tell them what route to run, and if you have to do that every play for a series or multiple series then it can bogg down the offense and we can barely get the ball snapped in time as it is.

Does Byrd know the position? He should be benched and they need to teach others to fill that role if he gets hurt we are screwed and blessed at the same time.

How on Earth do you bench your kicker to go for two, but keep Funchess in the entire game while limiting Samuel's snaps?????? Crap coaching, crap decision-making.

The cherry on top is that the Lions don't score their first touchdown if Rivera was on top of things enough to know to challenge those yards after catch.

Its all Ron’s big, huge, giant brain at work!

His brain is playing 8-D Chess, creating oppotunity after opportunity that thise damn players fail him at, while us simpletons sit here and babble “Play Curtis Damuel more hurr durr!”

We know he talks out of his ass. His reasoning to get rid of CJ was to give CAP more opportunities. How many plays was he on the field for again?

Yeah that whole cutting CJ andersen who is clearly the better runner than CAP is only to give cap 1 carry for 1 yard the entire game is a fuking joke! I really want this ron riveria show to be over already he is a bum ass HC.

Go for the win.

But it wasn’t going for the win at all.

Detroit had over a minute left and 3 TOs.  That’s an eternity in 2-minute drill time. And the Detroit kicker had been straight money all game.

A tie game makes Detroit and their end-of-game play calling cognizant of risk because “there’s always overtime” (where, the way Cam was playing, we have a decent shot of pulling that game out). A successful 2-pt conversion tells Detroit exactly what they are required to do with no doubt in their minds: 4-down offense to get in FG range.

Not a big Smith fan but if he can play X then put him in.  Pretty sure Funch dropped more passes in one game yesterday than Smith has dropped all season.
