Season isnt over, we only lost 2 games in a row, poo happens.

Today I've seen posters claim Rivera is a terrible coach, when he is currently #5 in the NFL for overall winning percentage over the last 5 years, that isnt bad thats actually really really good and anyone that says otherwise is lying to themselves.

I've seen posters suggest that we should just go ahead and blow up the team. Yes lets blow up a team that still has a very manageable road to the playoffs.... Brilliant!!!

I have even seen a poster suggest that Hue Jackson would be a better option than Rivera..... no sorry but I will have to pass on 3-36-1 excuse me.

Am I happy about todays results? heck no, but I sure as heck know that I want to part of Hue Jackson coaching us, my brain didnt just exit stage left after loss like it did with some here apparently.

If you want to brake down todays loss down to the Simplest of terms, Gano hits his kicks and we win today and half of you here arent screaming for Rivera's head on a pike. Do I like Rivera? yeah but he's got me pissed off with Keeping Washington on the team, he isnt perfect, but he has been a consistent winner, and as someone who has watched all 23+ years of Panthers Football I've seen a lot worse, so if you want to fire Rivera a top 5 coach by winning percentage, have a plan and a good one to replace him, not one you suddenly thought of after the timer hit 00:00 in todays game.

But people dont want to admit its that simple of an answer tho, and heck all we have to do is have a bad series before the Fire Rivera crowed comes out from hiding. Believe it or not guys, under rivera or any other coach for that matter, we will see a 2 game losing streak again.. shocker. it happens.  Get used to it grow up.

I agree man. This loss sucked for sure but we mainly lost because of terrible field poss ALL game and Gano. Cam looked sharp, DJ Moore and Samuel are really hitting their stride as receivers and not just gadget players, and the defense showed a glimpse of returning to form.

This place was a gawd damn cluster fug of poo posts after the loss.

Right now, I just want Washington fired. but it is what it is.

Agree. To me the biggest embarrassment isn't the last play, Funchess' stone hands or Gano suddenly getting a bad case of the shanks... but this defense, especially the line play, seems to have regressed and currently isn't up to snuff. Our D has always been a source of pride .. right now it is our Achilles heel. I don't think I've seen Luke look so lost and frustrated out there before.

It falls squarely on Washington and the defense coaches. I wouldn't be surprised to see Washington fired tomorrow and Rivera take over the defensive play calls. Something has to change with our upcoming games on the defensive side of the ball.

Look, guys. I get that it sucks when your team sucks.  And let's be real; today, our team sucked.

I hate it as much as anyone, but as much as I might hate it, I also realize it accomplishes nothing to deny it.

Seriously, do you think if you just refuse to acknowledge the team has problems they'll disappear? I suppose it could work. Heck, perhaps if you close your eyes the bad man will go away. Maybe if you just keep saying it wasn't you, your girlfriend will start to question whether she really caught you cheating. It might even be that if you just keep telling people over and over again everything is fine, maybe they'll start believing it and it could even come true.

Or...not.

Reality is right now we're members of the middle class (quite possibly the lower middle class). We're not in the upper echelons like the Saints, Rams and Steelers.  You can deny that all you want, and even hold your breath till you're blue in the face, but it's not going to change what's true.

I'll continue to root for the Panthers in every moment of every game just like I did in 2001 and 2010, but I will do so with a very realistic outlook.

This just isn't our year.  I wish it were, but I'm a little old to waste time fooling myself.

Maybe there is some hope for this fan base. Seems like a majority agree that Rivera is an awful coach who is doing everything humanly possible to hold this franchise back.

It is wild to me that there are people on here who can sit down and watch a panthers game and think to themselves that Ron Rivera is a competent head coach in the national football league. I mean I truly just don’t understand it.

If Rivera takes over this defense, it would definitely be the end for him. Right now he can use Washington as a buffer to evade the blame.

    • Strange, every news article and tweet I just searched all mentioned waivers. It is definitely his sixth year of at least 6 games. All I was trying to think of earlier was at the vet min could he beat out Bryce in camp next year lol. He's kinda got the old Darnold issue where he can obviously launch deep balls and qb run at a level Bryce will never achieve, but it sounds like he would be content being like a Josh Allen backup who doesn't throw the whole game plan out the window if he has to come in for a series or two. If we had him and for some reason still wanted to start Bryce he would kinda do what Justin Fields was doing the other night with Dangeruss, coming in for designed runs and maybe some play action/triple option rpo things to go deep. That would be so obvious and sad though. At least Russ can still sling it 40 yards in the air with a flick of the wrist
    • Too late to edit above but the quote is from this Diane Russini article in the Athletic: https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5941684/2024/11/23/russinis-what-im-hearing-the-day-the-jets-fell-apart-and-the-broncos-rallied-belichick-best-fits/ Okay.. there you have sorry I left that out the first post.  Also waivers keep the contract intact. That is the major difference in released and waived. It's all in that link from the other post.
    • Okay so I am reading something in The Athletic and it says that Jones had to pass through waivers. So I don't know. I looked this stuff up when we were number one there all offseason and I thought it said 4 years in the league got you vested, as they call it.  Vested gets you out of waivers as I understood it. I probably got something wrong, but when I think about the slack quality of journalism these days I wonder about that. So I went and looked, again. Well, well.  For everyone: "When a player has accrued at least four seasons in the NFL, they are considered a vested veteran. When these vested veterans get cut, they are released and their contract is terminated. When a vested veteran is released, they are an unrestricted free agent that can sign with any NFL team, and the team that released them doesn’t need to provide any additional compensation." It runs it all down here, where the quotes came from: https://www.profootballnetwork.com/waived-vs-released-nfl/ As far as Jones, the team turned down his 5th year option so I knew that meant he had 4 years in, because they re-signed him anyway, after turning down the much cheaper extra year.  The Athletic is owned by the New York Times so I shouldn't be surprised. That paper was an institution once upon a time but they let their standards go.
