I counted atleast 4 times today where Reid came sprinting in to tee a guy up for a big hit and he completely whiffed and didn't touch the guy. He sucks. But we're not paying him much and he's still way better than Jones so whatever. He's definitely not this defenses biggest problem.

People were calling on us to offer him a big extension not long ago.

Someone recently compared him to Charles Godfrey (i.e. a couple of "Sportscenter" moments but overall really only average).  That comparison is starting to look more accurate than I wish it were.

He's not great, but signing him was the right call. He's absolutely better than anyone on the roster behind him. The main problem with Reid is that the league has simply evolved past old school in the box big hitting safeties. You gotta be able to cover at the safety position in today's NFL because they've essentially outlawed running around and just laying people out. Reid would've been a much better player if he'd been born 20 years earlier.

Valid, and if we're being honest this is probably one of the reasons he's here. That's exactly the type of safety that Ron Rivera prefers.

How so? I’m not sure this was Ron forced play. I see it as more tepper/hurn.

Per their own explanation of events, Rivera and Hurney were the ones who decided to pursue Reid. Tepper was only asked to sign off.

Now you can apply a "that's their story and they're sticking to it' label on this if you want, but first ask yourself this question: When has David Tepper been shy about discussing things? If he had a bigger role in this, why would he hide it?

The process they described is pretty standard for most NFL teams. There's really no reason not to believe it.

Moral of this thread based on the responses... “white guy bad.”

Luke is the best player in the history of this franchise, hands down.

Let’s also take a shot at Colin Jones for good measure... you know, because someone made an observation about Reid not being anywhere near what we all hoped he’d be.

I refuse to believe this forum is representative of the larger Panther fan base... because if so, we f’ing suck.  I mean we suck Tampa bad.

Steve Smith is the best player in franchise history.

In today's NFL, if you hold a team to 20 points, you give yourself a chance to win. The D did their job.

    Now Fuch, and Gano?

I get it. We lost. So heads must roll. But let's be honest. This Offense should have been able to score more than 19 points. Point your grubby little fingers in that direction.

Reid was supposed to be the missing piece to our defense. Everyone said who gives a fug that he protests because he’s gonna help us win a SB...

The missing piece(s) is/are obviously the D-line. Nobody said he was the missing piece. He was a needed upgrade over Searcy and Jones.
