Which GM nailed the offseason?

If you want an example of "nailing the offseason" look at the Saints last year. or check out the Seahawks a few years ago when they had the draft that created the Legion of Boom.

When you can put together something that puts you in contention for the next few years to come, you've nailed the offseason. Putting together a team that gives up 52 points one week and loses to the Lions the next doesn't qualify

This thread is ridiculous. I am really starting to hate this place.

What exactly do you want everybody to do, dude? Are you not going to be happy until everybody says that everything is great and happy and perfect no matter what's happening on the field?

This team has given people plenty of reason to be dissatisfied with what they see. Deny that all you want, but it's a discussion forum and some people have different opinions.

If you believe the GMs on your wishlist will have those kinds of offseasons on a yearly basis be prepared to be disappointed.

Seriously?

No GM in the league has spectacular offseasons every year. Most of the best teams have one really good offseason every three or four years and decent to good ones in-between. That's all it takes.

As for us, I'd at least prefer one who can have good offseasons more frequently than 3 out of 11 years.

How would you classify our 2018 offseason?

Got the first two draft picks right. None of the rest have proven to be keepers yet. Ian Thomas looked good early but now is in Rivera's doghouse.

Free agency was mostly crap. Jarius Wright looks decent. Poe is mediocre at best. Clark is a turnstile.  Reid, who technically didn't come until we had an in season injury, can be decent but plays a largely obsolete style at his position. Torrey Smith has had one or two moments but has also been a big reason why the offense has been ineffective when he was starting.

That's not an example of a "nailed it" offseason.

Fact is were a team that's built to get absolutely waxed by teams like the Steelers and, unfortunately for us, the Saints. Meanwhile, we struggle with mediocre teams like the Lions, Giants, Eagles and Redskins.

Our braintrust just isn't good enough. If we're going to compete in today's NFL, we need better.

It's time to move on from both of them, scrap the last vestiges of the Richardson era and start over.

There's hardly any chance of Hurney retaining his job. He couldn't even get a look from the other 31 franchises after we finally fired him the first go round and he never should've been brought back in the first place. He's a pure JR guy - which is why he lasted long enough the first time around to completely and thoroughly run the franchise into the ground and why he was brought back again despite this. We'll move on from him very quickly once the season wraps up.

Clark was an emergency signing that has been a turnstile in 3 games at most. That is a huge uograde over what we've had for the past 2-3 seasons. Cam is one of the least sacked quarterbacks. I classify the move as a good signing.

We are a top 10 team this season. You'd think we've been one of the worst by looking at some of these posts.

Will we still be a "top ten team" after the Saints get through with us?

We played an actual "top ten team" a few weeks ago and got humiliated. Of the team's we've beaten, only one is over 500 and even they were lousy up till a recent trade. And heck, couple of the teams that have beaten us weren't even that good.

The notion that we're in the upper echelon of the league is an illusion, or a delusion depending on how strongly you believe it.

So you're saying some teams with worse records are better than us?

The Lions just beat us last week. What's their record again?

While you're looking that up, you might also want to check out the Falcons record. They beat us too.

Heck, we needed a miracle field goal to beat the Giants and they're not exactly world beaters right now. Likewise, we needed a crazy ending to beat the Eagles while New Orleans basically wiped their feet on them.

Do you actually believe we're good enough to compete with teams like the Saints, Rams and Chiefs?

If you do, I'd suggest googling "Panthers - Steelers" and reviewing the highlights.

Wins are wins. We have the 9th best record in the NFL. A lot of fans are envious of our position.

I believe we can beat the rams. Division games are usually competitive so don't be shocked if we beat New Orleans. The Chiefs haven't looked invincible; we can beat them too.
