Fire Hurney

Poe is not better than Star.  He is the reason Luke doesn't look like Luke out there.

Gano staying is a Hurney gaffe, period.

We traded for Torrey...it was just a salary dump for Philly.  He has contributed almost nothing, and is counting 5M.

Yes, that's correct on the 05 playoffs, and it could happen once again after cutting CJ for no reason what so ever.  Guess Marty doesn't remember.

I do not miss KB, but the team missed him in New Orleans last year.

Gano has been better than Butker.

Without Torrey Smith we'd be 5-5.

CJ was disgruntled. We needed to let him go.

How did KB do in his previous games vs New Orleans? Spoiler: not much better than Kaelin Clay and Brenton Bersin in our playoff game. Benjamin's presence wouldn't have changed a thing. His poor route running and terrible hands would have destroyed our offense. Lattimore would have shut his no separation creating ass down.

I cannot have a football discussion with someone who doesn't understand the salary cap, thinks this team would have lost another game were Ron forced to have started Moore or Samuel over the awful Smith, agrees with cutting players who are upset at a position with one of the highest injury %'s, and thinks that an overpaid K who misses PAT's on the reg is better than a cheap option that was signed long term.

We would have lost the Eagles game if not for Smith. He is not making a lot of money and we got rid of bum ass Worley in that trade. He is our veteran presence. I'd say we won the trade. Blame RR for starting him over Moore.

Butker has missed a FG and 3 XPs this season. He hasn't been great. Butker was terrible in training camp so Hurney went with the solid veteran. Gano has been great for us.

I would give Hurney one more draft before he is fired .  I thought he did a decent job this year in the draft . He didn't give up a future 1st round pick as in years past . His first two picks have looked pretty good .  Its u[ to Ron who plays and who does not play .  Ron is in control of who is coaches are . I put this season good or bad on Ron . If we miss the playoffs he should be fired .

Not this coming offseason, for a few reasons.

One, history tells us that the longer Hurney is in charge, the worse things get. Short term Hurney might be okay, but long term is a disaster just waiting to happen.

Two, you can't put Hurney in charge of the draft without also putting him in charge of free agency.  Whatever success you might ascribe to this year's draft is offset by a mediocre free agent haul.  And let's be honest: The "success" of this year's draft is really just the first two rounds so far.  Beyond that we're not getting a whole lot of anything.

Third, regardless of how likely you consider it, there is at least a possibility that we'll be looking for a new head coach next season.  If that's the case, I don't want Marty Hurney making that choice.  We need somebody better choosing who guides us from here on out.

Fourth, and in the same vein: Whether coaching changes happen or not, the coming offseason is likely to be a decent sized overhaul of the team as a whole. Older players will be retiring, few guys are signed and there's expected to be a lot of cap space.  Thus, whoever runs this coming offseason is going to be in position to put a significant stamp on this team for several years to come.

Do you really trust Marty Hurney to be the architect of a retooling on that level?

I don't.

The thought of going into this offseason with Marty having the power to remake the roster in his image while also conceivably choosing our next head coach is, frankly, terrifying. No way do I wanna live that nightmare.

If we're gonna start over - and I think it's time we did - let's leave everything from the Richardson era by the roadside and start completely fresh.

Cannot agree more.

Were the interim tag real, we could have had John Dorsey.

This is the case for almost all GMs.

Not if you get the right guy.

Kevin Colbert has been running the Steelers since 2010 and shows no signs of dropping off. Likewise, while he's now moving on, Ozzie Newsome had a pretty successful run with the Ravens and he's handing it off to a guy everyone believes has capable hands in Eric DeCosta. Les Snead is looking pretty good out in Los Angeles too. He's actually gotten better over time.

Colbert's right hand man Omar Khan should definitely be in consideration for the Panthers job. Although he doesn't have as much of a scouting background as I would like, he's considered by many to be the best salary negotiator in the league and he comes from an organization that knows how to win. He could bring a personnel guy from the organization along with him as well.

Heck, I'd even be willing to revisit Dawson and Raye. Or for that matter, former Panthers scouting guy Ryan Cowden.

But if Hurney does well, he deserves to stay over an unknown option.

This year's roster build isn't impressive enough to warrant putting him in charge of a major rebuild, especially on the free agent side.

I'll take someone who's built a long term resume' and has "rising star" status like Khan or Cowden over a guy who's still tied to an unsuccessful first run.
