Getting rid of KB mid season was a mistake.  The same as getting rid of CJ midseason will likely end up being a mistake (if Ron doesn't choke away a probable playoff year).

Trai resigning was DG's work, and in hindsight may have been the wrong move vs. letting him walk and keeping Norwell, which I preferred.

Poe was/is a bad signing.

Olsen getting extended was a dumb move.

I already said picking up DJ and Jackson were good moves....I think.  It's still early there.  The rest of the draft wasn't awe inspiring, although I do like the TE.

How was re-signing Olsen a bad move? Imagine Manhertz, Dickson, or even inexperienced Thomas as our #1 TE. Yikes.

Olsen was the best option.

Not gonna blame any front office personnel on this team's transgressions. There is a ton of talent on this team. Injuries have decimated the oline, but that's just gonna happen in this sport. You have to be a little lucky there.

The only area I wish we would have paid more attention to is a pass rusher. A third and long pass rushing specialist would do wonders for this team.

Other than that, love the moves and if Breeland would have been healthy it would have been a huge improvement to the secondary. That's assuming we still would have drafted Donte.

I think playcalling and coaching decisions are the real issues - particularly the willingness to put playmakers on the field.

I can tell just how little you have paid attention over the past 7 seasons.

I think the poster has paid quite a bit of attention.

Getts threw us in reverse with the Norman fiasco & we haven't been the same since.

And lets  don't go down the road of his drafts--Vernon Butler-enough said.

Van Roten signed mere days after Gettleman was relieved of duties by “Mister”. All the groundwork to sign Van Roten was done before Gettleman handed in his keys.

Hurney signed him.

I also give him credit for re-signing him on a 2 year deal this offseason.

I would rather rehire gettleman and then fire him again honestly.

10 years from now we are going to look back on Gettleman and realize it was him who sabotaged our two hall of famers careers more than anyone else.

The consistent failures of his draft picks will haunt this franchise into the twilights of Luke and Cams careers.

This..can’t be emphasized enough.

I repeat for the intentionally deaf, ALL THE NEGOTIATION AND CONTRACT WORK FOR VAN ROTEN OCCURRED UNDER GETTLEMAN.

Van Roten signed just a few days after Gettleman had been let go. The contract for Van Roten to sign was prepped and waiting on Hurney’s desk the first day he walked back in the door.

I didn't know you worked for the Panthers.

Well, believe what you want, but Van Roten didn’t just suddenly appear on Marty’s doorstep like a baby from a stork. GMs, players, and agents in general will negotiate, dot i’s, cross t’s, check, and then double-check when working on contracts. Van Roten was already a veteran so its not as if he was gonna be handed a rookie UDFA standard form and be all “Yep! Let’s get this deal done right now!” Especially considering it was all happening before training camp had started anyway.

I agree.  I was thinking the coaching staff owed hurney an apology for pissing on his hard work.  We needed WRs he got us some damn good WRs, he got rid of worley, and got us jackson, we needed a safety, he got us reid which so many predicted would be a big win (still waiting here).

Sorry, but this team looked damn good on paper.  We're being out coached.

the reid signing would never have happened if hurney’s puppetmaster was still on the throne

I admit, Poe's been so-so but so was Star. Star's making around 14-15 mil now, Poe at 8 mil. So basically we saved some money there. DTs ain't cheap no more.

I wanted Gano to be gone after '16, but after his pro bowl '17 season & making the 63 yarder against the Giants, DAY-UM. Yes, he sucked yesterday but every Kicker gets one free pass every season. But no more now. If he starts sucking like he did 2 years ago, Gano is GONE-o.

I think we already knew Torrey was going to be a bust when we traded for him & wanted to use him as a locker room leader. Thus, we drafted DJ.

Yes, I remember the '05 playoffs. Went down to what, 9th string RB (Goings)?

You're like the only Panthers fan I know who misses Benji.

Poe is not better than Star.  He is the reason Luke doesn't look like Luke out there.

Gano staying is a Hurney gaffe, period.

We traded for Torrey...it was just a salary dump for Philly.  He has contributed almost nothing, and is counting 5M.

Yes, that's correct on the 05 playoffs, and it could happen once again after cutting CJ for no reason what so ever.  Guess Marty doesn't remember.

I do not miss KB, but the team missed him in New Orleans last year.
