So I was reviewing some stats recently since we're around the half way mark and CMC is stastically our best skill position player on offense.

I saw that McCaffrey has 579 rushing yards / 439 receiving yards at only 9 games played he's on a blistering pace and got me to thinking about him getting close to 1000 in each catagory.

Mind you this has only been done a grand total of TWO times in NFL history (Roger Craig : 1985 , Marshall Faulk : 1999 ). That would be an incredible honor but I'm thinking he's not going to have enough receiving yards. I could see him getting like 1100 rushing and 700 receiving.  Unless he pops off some huge receiving plays late in the season. I think him getting to 1000 rushing shouldnt be a problem though.

I also reviewed the stats of every other back in the top 20 in rushing yards currently and the only other two players anywhere near CMC are Alvin Kamara (546 / 473 ) and Saquon Barkley ( 586 , 530 ). Isn't it odd how close the stats are for Kamara, Barkley , and CMC are but CMC isn't anywhere near as sensationalized or gushed over as the other two RBs are?

So you think any of these 3 will get to that mythical 1000/1000 this season? In general do you think CMC will get to it eventually but not this year?

Just thought this might be an interesting mid-season topic.

Heres a CMC 2018 highlight

Also another general question, what is the final stat line you would predict for him? Id say 1100 and 700

He has the ability. But that would require tons of opportunities. Probably more than he will get, especially once DJ and Curtis develop more. Barring injuries in future years to those two, it may need to happen this year or not at all.

Here's a bold prediction: tommorow , November 18, 2018, Christian McCaffrey will break the single game record for yards from scrimmage in regulation (currently 330 yards). Perfect storm of a fast field, a team that's quit, and an offense hungry to get the bad taste of a blowout out of their mouths.

He needs about 60 rushing yds each of the remaining 7 games I wouldn't call that impossible as he has 64 yds/game this far.

The rushing isn't really a problem hes at well over 500 with 7 games to go thats plenty of time to hit the 1000 mark.

His receiving yards are low though and kinda unreliable , he gets his 4-6 catches a game usually but they are normally dump offs around the line of scrimmage that dont have much of a chance to turn into big gainers. The problem here is Cam very rarely targets McCaffrey well down the field. And Norv rarely has him running long routes.

Saquon is already well over 500 yards in both categories, why not?

i think as Saquon develops, they'll use him more as a traditional feature back and have the majority of his touches be carries. his numbers are a little skewed from some huge gainers (including one against us on a trick play) that are fairly unreliable production. I just don't think anyone's gameplan in the NFL is going to be to get their HB around 100 catches, which is what they'd probably need considering about 10 yards per catch is around the max you can expect for a full season from a player that catches the ball in the backfield.

    • Bryce put it in a spot only his guy could get it only for David Moore to drop it. T_T Tremble and Horn both struggled yesterday and that killed me since they're two of my favourite players. Tommy knows he has to come down with this one. Folks were understandably saying that JT would've caught that had he not gotten hurt a few plays earlier. The more I look at this play, the more I think that Bryce made the right decision throwing it out the back of the endzone. He could have tried to laser it in to Thielen, but that safety is lurking awfully close inside. Insuring the field goal here after a 44sec drive to end the half was the right move.
    • Except Bryce was the main reason we were in it
    • NFL Pro has the All-22 up already 😄 Going to grab a play or two from each redzone series to put screenshots to. Looks like AT angled his route off to the near pylon rather than the back corner where Bryce was throwing to. I imagine this is something they'll quickly try to figure out with Thielen back from IR. After watching the All-22 again, this was actually a pretty nifty play. I thought it was a TE screen to Tremble because of the way XL charged the DB, but he quickly shed and kept upfield as seen in the second screenshot. This looks like it had multiple layers built into it with AT running the crosser, XL the fade, Tremble to the flat. The progression would call for the play to go to Chuba here as the LB does follow Tremble out into the flat. Ball hits Chuba low and in the hands, but the LB does a good job disrupting the catch.
