Would you be satisfied and consider the season a success if the Panthers made the playoffs and were one and done?

I think Chicago is gonna win the North, but whether the Vikes or the Packers win, I'm expecting a quick trip up north and a quick trip back south.

There is the chance that we play one of the NFCE teams. Does that matter? Or are they sending us home with our tail between our legs as well?

You do realise there are only 5 teams in the whole league that have a better record than we do. Why do you see us being so much worse than our record would indicate?

Depends on the one and done. If this team comes out and gives everything it has from start to finish and loses, I'm ok with that. If they come out and half ass it like so many times we do, then no I'm not happy.

How would you feel if we went to Chicago and beat them. Then went to say, NO and almost beat them. Almost making it to the NFC Championship. Would that make it a good year?

Considering our defense is not up to par with our past defensive teams.  This would be fair finish.

I am hoping that as the Offense is improving, so too can the Defense. The next 4 weeks can really help this D. All 4 teams are struggling with their Olines. Maybe we can get our poo together, gain some confidence, and hit the end of the year on a roll?

And by poo, I mean generating a consistent pass rush.

I am hanging my hat on Rivera putting his stamp on the Defense. If they can get their poo together. We should be alright.

The only way I can say this season would be a success with a playoff birth, but being one & done is if we finished with either the 1st or 2nd seed, giving us a bye and losing in the divisional round. Then it would be a slight improvement from last season, but making the playoffs and then losing in the wild-card game is no different than what we accomplished last year. Your goal is to improve from the previous season, losing in the wild-card again isn't an improvement. The season would be a fail.

If we came out in NO and half assed it I wouldn't consider it a success. Only one team is going to win it all. Once you get into the playoffs, the season starts over. The goal is always to win it all, and nothing short of a full effort, win or lose is a success.

I didn't say they half azzed it. I said they almost won. I was speaking more of pushing them to the limit, but still falling short. I guess, I could have been more specific.

When it comes to the playoffs, the team with the better record is not automatically the better team.

Also worth noting that the team currently leading the NFC East is also the one team from that division that beat us.

On the other hand. In the Playoffs, the team with the better record is almost always the better team.

Now granted, there are years where one of the Wild Card teams is probably better than 1, or even 2 of the Divisional Winners. But as a whole. Yeah, the better record usually indicates the better team.

It is not a given that we are at our ceiling. That we are not capable of getting better. It just seems to me. Too many folks are of this thought. That we are who we are.

IMO, it really is not out of the realm of possibilities that this team can improve even more. We still have 7 weeks to work on things.

    • I just switched to prime video with fanduel south. Will I be able to watch the Canes playoff games still?
    • I mean, you can use that "logic," but the problem is that most practice squad players, backups or average guys don't put the play on film that Wharton did when given their opportunities.  Perhaps you'll end up right, but I don't think that just because a guy has been in a rotation makes him inherently less productive because he gets more snaps. I will say that the KC fans I've seen on social media loved him, and considered him their second best DT,  regardless of his "rotational" status, and generally considered him a dawg, so I'm going to give him the benefit of doubt until he shows otherwise.
    • Did I miss something?  The people we have developing players now are not the ones we've had in the past so I don't know what the heck people are talking about when they say we are not good at developing players right now.  We only have one year to go on.  Canales likes young players or players who are on an upward trajectory, especially in FA this year.  Past QB's and what he's done with Bryce are good examples. Tershawn Wharton - 26 Tre'von Moehrig - 25 Pat Jones II - 26 Bobby Brown III - 24 Michael Jackson - 28 Jaycee Horn - 25 Tommy Tremble - 24 We missed on Milton Williams but he's 26. Everyone else we picked up are on 1 year deals.  The Panthers new front office and Canales absolutely scream developmental team. Pick 8 (stay) Tier 1 Elite - Abdul Carter, Travis Hunter and Mason Graham Tier 2 Elite - Jalon Walker, Mykel Williams, Will Johnson Trade down: There are quite a few really good players that fit us at Edge, DT, S and WR mid to late 1st and high 2nd.  Some combos that would be possible that I really like.  Imagine getting 2 of these guys by trading down. Stark, Pierce Jr, Golden, Scourton, Grant, Emmanwori, Ezeiruaku, Umanmielen, Deone Walker, Harmon and this is just off the top of my head.
