Bill Polian

The better question is where would this franchise be if we had a chance to draft Peyton Manning.

Bill Polian does a good job, but alot of his success as a GM is based on how good Peyton makes the Colts.

He is a legend! He built those Buffalo teams that went to 4 straight superbowls. He is more than Peyton Manning. He had our franchise in a conference title game faster than any team in NFL history.

well it should be pointed out that their drafting during the super bowl run was atrocious, and anything better than terrible would have probably won them at least two.

not to mention the AFC was a laughing stock during the late eighties-early nineties, so winning it wasn't much of an accomplishment.

So which of the picks he made or traded in the 3 superbowl years didn't you like?

I don't know how familiar you are with what went on, his hands were tied, he was fired after the superbowl because of problems very similar to the ones Parcell's had at New England. But I'll take this kind of turnaround around anyday: 1986 4-12, 1987 7-8, 1988 12-4, 1989 9-7, 1990 13-3, 1991 13-3, 1992 11-5, after finishing 2-14 back to back seasons.

uh, im very familiar, and his success at drafting in the late part of the eighties only makes what happened 1990-92 even worse.

his purse fight with the owner had nothing to do with him flushing draft picks down the drain.

Polian,Spioli,or Colbert is who I'd want for a Gm. Polian didn't have problems with the owner, just about everyone else In the front office. They would not let him make the trades and deals he wanted during the last two drafts, so they fired him before he could leave so they would look like he was the problem. He went to Carolina built a playoff team from nothing but a name, left for more money and built a team who has won more games than anyone since he took over.

    • The retirement thing is just a convenient excuse from Tepper. I'm sure if the team was trying to bring him on officially he would do it in a heartbeat and the league wouldn't bat an eye at it. He's not getting any other calls and we know there's a direct line of communication. You telling me no other team has put up a photo of an active player who left? I have a hard time believing the league would flag a MVP display, literal team history, as tampering. Moving on from JR is clearly bull too when we're parading Luke and Smitty around. It's Cam. Tepper knows that if Cam is brought on in any capacity, as long as he looks athletic to the average fan there's going to pressure to put him in when we're struggling at QB. They've decided he's not worth that but I think is a huge mistake. The organization stands to lose more burning this bridge than he does.
    • I've been here through it all my friend. So when I say I've seen how this turns out folks really should listen. But they won't. So I continue to be entertained by fair weather fans that talk down to me as if I don't know squat. That's fine. Their in for some painful reality checks.
    • Because Chinn Is not a God Damn Free Safety! He is a Strong Safety/LB and none of our coaches could figure that out.
