This won't be well received but Cam Newton has 3rd highest roughing the passer calls per game only behind Fitzpatrick and Tannehill when it comes to active/starting QB's.

Sure he takes a lot of hits but even his RTP penalties called per sack is among the highest in the league and higher than guys like Brady, Rodgers, R Wilson, Big Ben, etc. who many think get "all the calls".

I know we are not just talking about hits in the pocket but the idea that Cam never gets calls is exaggerated.

It's a recent thing, but this has definitely not always been the case, in fact prior to last year he had the fewest.

That said, we all see hits that he takes that should have been penalized and weren't too often.

Another reason for the high number of calls is that he gets illegal hits more than any other QB. It's calmed down a little since they started calling some, but he still gets it white a bit more than others do.

That very well could be a valid point when looking at those numbers.

I know Cam takes shots that get uncalled but so do many other QB's throughout the league. After what Cam went through in Denver, it's easy to stick to the notion that it happens all the time and only to him. Many people around here don't watch games other than the Panthers but it happens each and every week throughout the league.

It's kind of like the idea that the Panthers are hated by the refs and league in general while ignoring the fact that they had less penalties called against them last year than any other team in the league. They are always near the bottom of the league in penalties called against them.  Bad calls / no calls happen a lot and they happen to all teams and all players.

The big difference between those 2 hits that the article does not mention is that Cam was 'in the pocket', behind the los and not running with the ball. Ben was scrambling and had turned himself into a runner even though he gave himself up at the end. That alone should make the hit on Cam more grievous and sensitive to the personal foul rule than the hit on Ben. Add in that Watt lead with his helmet and there definitely should've been a flag on Watt's hit.

It is amazing that no one has mentioned that the vast majority of refs are still part timers. There are full time refs, but they make up a small portion. Making refs full time may make a difference going forward.

Does anyone agree that making refs full timers, very well could make a difference? Or am I barking up this tree all by my lonesome?

SILENCE! The refs are bias, rigged and racist I say!

I'm curious as to why Watt's hit on cam, in the shoulder, is illegal and should have a flag or ejection? Like NFL rules about it. Big dfference in a dirty hit and illegal hit. Dirty ones happen ALL the time.

I also wonder why some people on the forum don't lobby for TD to get ejected and he is full of dirty and illegal hits.

oh wait yes I do. Subjective bias forum. Cam is no different.

Can we ban this dude already damn, ruining a great thread with facts.

Outside of Cam (though in general including Cam) I will agree the refs are getting worse and worse and calling things. Something needs to be done.

Whats crazy is how unnoticed it is. Our perspective is wild. We hop on the littlest of eyes noticing this too but still nothing is said major for change.

The ejection was utter bullshit. IN PITTSBURG they have hits like that every week. Big Ben was certainly playing "the game" as he was patient enough to slide right as Eric launched full speed.

The slow motion has really fuged the game. Or more so the way we value slow motion so much. It is the end all be all when it comes to penalties and reviews. We base it solely off Slow motion.. what the fug is that first of all.

TJ Watt was going high on cam every time. Straight into the face. It sucks because we've noticed Cam play "the game" too after hits but thats out of straight up survival. A natural reaction to level the playing fields. The league started out throwing yellow flags ANYTIME a qb was hit. Even if he didn't get knocked down. Goff, Rodgers, Brady, Jimmy G, Brees gets tapped on the shoulder its a first down.

Steelers are certainly one of the teams who try to bend the rules and act like nothing is happening. I get it that its a urge and desire to win from Tomlin but thats what the refs are there for. Piss poor. It can take the morale out of our team and once that goes we lose.

You know those shitbags you watch football with and the opposing team scores on the first drive and you hear "WE LOST THE GAME IS OVER" it seems that mentality can creep onto our teams especialy when the calls go poo against us.
