"Dude was productive!"

Cameron Artis-Payne averages 4.3 ypc in limited carries and has a 100% catch percentage

"WHY DOES CAP SUCK SO MUCH?"

Don't be obtuse.    You're comparing a career bench player with a guy that rushed 1k yards the year before and has way more experience.    The reason he has limited carries is the team's coaching.   33% catch percentage on what, 3 passes?   I remember that touchdown catch too, was there in person for it, was fantastic, CJ got promptly rewarded by sitting on the bench the rest of the game.

What do we have if our all-pro RB gets hurt?

We did have a backup who was a thousand yard rusher only last season.

What do we do if Cam Newton gets hurt?  Or Luke Kuechly?  Or Trai Turner?  Or Taylor Moton?

It's an "if".  Yea, "if" McCaffrey gets hurt, MAYBE we'll miss CJ Anderson a tad but ya'll are acting like he's some game changer.  There is a reason the Broncos let him walk and Anderson didn't have much interest by teams on the market; he's not nearly as good as people like you are making him out to be.  He's averaged 4.1 YPC the last 3 years and offers nothing on special teams or as a returner.  There is no reason to think the drop-off from him to Artis-Payne is massive enough for this kind of overreaction, especially when the presence of Cam Newton alone will give us some kind of run game whether it be from the backs or Cam.

So stop with the "if McCaffrey gets hurt" narrative.  We're boned even if we had Anderson - we can't do the same kind of stuff with him as we can McCaffrey and this offense doesn't function nearly as well with a back who can't contribute as a receiver.

So I'll stand by what I said.  Who cares?  It isn't a big deal.  Even if you disagree with the move, it ain't that serious.  Anderson is an alright back, but he isn't anything special.  He wouldn't come close to filling McCaffrey's shoes.

He barely ran for 1,000 yards (1007) and rarely broke open for a big play (longest run was 25 yards).  He was an okay power back, but offered zero in the passing game.

Come on guys.  The RB position might be devalued, but the Broncos had this 1K Rusher at 26 years old and let him walk.  Teams (who had more of a need for RB than us) looked at him and passed despite him being super cheap.  Ya'll are overrating the heck out of him.  He's nothing special.  He's probably better than Cameron Artis-Payne, and I can understand disagreeing with the move a tad, but it isn't a big deal.  He wouldn't make a difference, and I'd rather get rid of a disgruntled player who is unlikely to make a difference than to keep them on the off chance they MAYBE contribute after our star RB MAYBE gets injured.

Being screwed if Luke Kuechly goes down isn't an argument in favor of cutting David Mayo.

CJ Anderson has been a productive back in this league and was quality depth. There was zero incentive to let him go.

You do know running backs get injured at a higher rate than basically every other position? especially small high usage backs

If the dropoff wasn't so big why did they sign him in the first place????? why is CAP basically inactive?

The coaches believed his attitude could be detrimental to the locker room. That's the only logical reason.

Anderson has no history of attitude or locker room issues. Just the opposite, actually. He's always been a model citizen and a hard worker, as demonstrated by his whole "long sleeves in Summer" thing.

Looking back at his signing, it came after the Broncos released him for cap reasons. Then he had an hour long conversation with Jonathan Stewart by phone that helped cement his decision to come here.

Sure as heck didn't see this coming back then.
