So let me get this right. We are 6-3 in the middle of a playoff race and we cut our backup running back for a guy that hasn’t had one snap all year.  And if CMC gets hurt????

At this point the only question about CMC's upcoming injury is whether its a mauling from a bear or a shark attack.

That's a theory though, and given that he played well at the times he did see the field, one that doesn't have a lot of evidence.

The idea that we've taken a step down in depth is a lot less theoretical.

Well might be an overstatement balanced with a couple game costing plays. And it could also be that the plays he did ok with we're ones that anyone could do.

We did take a step down in depth, but he wasn't getting anything close to significant playtime. He was a nonfactor who probably would have stayed a nonfactor and if we did have to resort to him due to injury might have limited the playbook a lot more than it was worth.

I just don't think it's the big deal anyone is making it out to be. Here, CJ was a jag. Pretty much like a back up QB who wasn't going to be seeing the field anyways barring injury.

But Anderson's not a JAG, and I highly doubt he's gonna be unemployed for long.

Our not using him doesn't make him a bad player.

i mean they've been making small little salary cap moves all over the place recently

this feels like another one of those

there's almost certainly other factors here, cj not being happy most likely one of them, but this kinda fits a pattern.

I think you’re onto something with this.

i wonder if it is Darrell Williams on a more team friendly deal due to the injury.

I’d  be perfectly fine going into next year with Moton at LT and Williams at RT.

Here he was. That's all that matters. Norv puts pieces in that works for him in his scheme. You didn't really see that with CJ.

It doesn't require "panic" to question this decision.

Can you honestly say today's moves make our overall depth better?

If not, then what was the point?

Fiz might be on to something here. Cap move in prep for some extension. And regarding depth, I just don't think that he would have done well here without a major overhaul of the offense. It's just not a big deal to me because while he might be good elsewhere I don't think he ever really fit here.
