Panthers WAIVE CJ Anderson

I knew it was coming.  Said it back a few weeks ago in one of the threads...  he was growing unhappy with his role, and our staff hardly used him.  Figured he would become frustrated and want out.

What a waste.

Our defense is getting 51 dropped on them with offenses moving the ball at will against them...  and we release our short yardage back we hardly use.  BRILLIANT!

If we're being honest, he was our 6th or 7th best option on offense. I don't know how we get him the extra snaps it takes for him to be effective without taking them away from CMC, Samuel, DJ Moore, Olsen, Cam, etc.

I wish things worked out differently, but he wasn't a difference maker for us and our offense works the same with our without him.

I understand and share the frustration of folks who wish we didn't let him just walk mid-season with no compensation, but makes me think there's something going on we weren't privy too. I hope so, at least.

Don't like that he was released because he was a very good cheap backup to CMC.. do you really think CAP is better than CJ as the back up?

He just put out a statement saying he released him coz we dont need him since CMC is god and will never get injured.. read it.

“When we signed C.J. in the spring he saw a bigger role than he has had, and honestly, at the time so did we,” Panthers General Manager Marty Hurney said. “But Christian McCaffrey has taken so much of the offense and so much of the plays, we just made the decision that this was the best thing for all parties involved.”

That statement is full of “We” not “I”. Many people had to sign off on this one.

Am I defending Hurney or am I saying the idea that he made a move like this all by himself, like you’ve suggested, is completely wrong?

I don't believe he made this decision alone because these things have always tended to be a collaborative effort with the Panthers.

Unfortunately, that doesn't really make the decision sound any smarter, especially not if it's for the officially stated reason.

That all assumed McCaffrey keeps up his current production and doesn't get injured.

Anderson was definitely quality depth if something went wrong. I just can't see a good rationale for letting go of someone like that.

I agree there is no logical reason from the teams side. It’s idiotic if CJ didn’t want out. I said at the trade deadline CJ was more valuable as insurance than any late draft pick would be.

I was assuming no one could be that stupid. Maybe I was wrong. Hurney didn’t do this without RRs approval either, IMO.

They were all wrong to support releasing CJ.. just not a smart move period.

I haven’t defended the decision

crazy. A lot of armchairs will defend this but Cj is going to go to a new team and tell everyone how to not to sign w the fuging Carolina panthers. They didn't use fresh legs at all. We seem to think CMC is superman and will be healthy enough to carry this load every game.

I believe in CAP but CJ is a true tested solid RB. I don't see us getting a pro at his level for anytime soon.

Its not like he's a old veteran. He's still got legs.
