17 points and huge 4th qtr stops to give us the chance to win was one of the best performances they had all year. The offense left them out there all day til the 4th. So now we are cherry-picking “parts” of good games? OK

Is the panthers defense good yes or no

We were 11th in points against last year. Were tied for 24th with N.O. this year. We're giving up an average of 26 points per game. This despite playing three bottom 10 offenses thus far.

Are you comparing an entire year to 9 games? And what were our ranks before this week? How much of a shift was there in one week.

And what would exactly be accomplished by firing the DC. Still the same system. Rivera can be more involved without firing a coach mid-season. That just makes no sense. That is all I’m saying.

It makes no sense to stick with a first time DC who has clearly shown he's in over his head.  He doesn't have to fire him outright or even strip the title from him, but if he doesn't do something to get this defense on track it might cost them both their jobs, along with the rest of the coaching staff.

We still have three games left against the Falcons and Saints (2x) and those offenses have had our number for years. It's conceivable we could end the season with a bottom 5 defense in points allowed. We're already the second worst defense on the NFL in the redzone allowing a TD a staggering 83% of the time.

I agree with all that completely. But we are in a thread acting like we don’t want to win because we don’t do things like the Bengals. Like fire coaches mid-season.

And last week we were near top 10 in those categories mentioned before. BAL is ranked 2nd and we treated them like a chew toy.

Every defense has a bad day and I wouldn't be as concerned if the Steelers game was an anomaly but when you're giving up a TD 83% of the time in the redzone more than midway through the season, that's not an anomaly. This defense sucks.

If we can only we 3 of the next 4...we have the potential to finish the season 9-7 if the defense doesn't get right.  I don't see us beating the saints, and the Atlanta game will be a dogfight.  Seattle always plays us close so that's the scariest game of the next 4 for me.

And like the man says in the article that’s pulled from, it’s very unlikely to continue.

If you accept the fact that it was a bad day, then we have a top 10 DEF otherwise. Correct? While have that ridiculous red zone ratio which is the definition of an anomaly.
