Did anyone honestly expect any different? Yes, it's obvious that Washington is trash but we all know that Ron values continuity over all else. I mean, look at how long he hung onto Shula.

Or a St coach who was absolutely terrible. I mean with Shula at least he had his good years.

The defensive debacle on Thursday was not a one time thing. Pitt also played on a short week. The defense this year has not been good. People can make excuses and downplay it all they want but we have no pass rush and the scheme and play calling have not been good.

It's amazing how quickly many have seemingly forgotten that debacle. Truly one of the worst defensive performances I've ever seen at the NFL level. The Steelers had 52 very early in the 4th. They honestly could've hung 70 on us if they wanted to do it.

Why would a coach fire a first-year DC, in the middle of the season? Especially one who is running his philosophy on DEF? He would just take over and not embarrass him publicly. End of year. Different story.

Austin was just brought in and probably had different opinions as Lewis. Or he’s the scapegoat. Either way, it’s not the same. Our DEF won’t change dramatically by firing the DC.

Bengals are the first team in NFL history to give up 500 yards in 3 straight games. Our defense is bad..... but it’s not that bad.

We gave up over 400 in just 3 quarters. Pitt didn’t punt the entire game until they put 2nd string in half way thru 4th ..dude had 3 incompletions and 5 tds  they did whatever they wanted whenever they wanted  and our defense didn’t have one defensive stop against their 1st string   We lucky it was only 52

The godawful giants looked competent against us. What did they score 30+

Its a bad defense has been all year   No reason to make excuses for it. They’ve underperformed and been getting out coached severely

Yep, the defense is putrid. That has been a theme the entire year. They let Tevin Coleman gash us, the Giants offense looked respectable against us and they probably should have won the game, Ryan Fitzpatrick carved us up in the second half, Dontari Poe looks like a complete waste of space and certainly isn’t earning his paycheck, we have no pass rush, and can you imagine if the panthers were content with starting Keyvon Seymour and Colin Jones in the secondary which certainly appeared like that’s what they were going to do.

Ive seen enough of Washington. He needs to be replaced.

So the DEF was bad against DAL, CIN, PHI, WAS, and BAL? Even TB was soft zone after a 35-7 lead.

Like almost every DEF in the NFL, they get lit up now and then. No one expected elite, but they are a long way from BAD all year.

The defense was bad against the eagles for most of the game.

There have been some issues with the defense for sure this year.  I'm not sure what is going on, but this is something that needs to get fixed.  As much respect as Washington has around the Panthers, I just don't think that they will can him mid year.

We are 6-3 and laid an absolute egg.  What I really care about more than talking who should be fired is can we complete with the Ram and Saints?  What will it take for us to do that?

17 points and huge 4th qtr stops to give us the chance to win was one of the best performances they had all year. The offense left them out there all day til the 4th. So now we are cherry-picking “parts” of good games? OK

You don't have to can him. I don't think that would happen. You just take play calling duties from him. Let him keep the title and pay. Figure out the long-term answer in the off-season. Meanwhile, let Washington go back to focusing on the DL.
