Panthers should consider the 3-4 when Kuechly is done.

Just my two cents.  The 4-3 has been relatively good too us, but you can disguise zone coverages and blitzes better out of the 3-4.  With our defense we're set up to feast on mediocre QBs, but we have a real issue whenever we play a real QB.  It seems that experienced QBs only require a split second to discern our coverage.

I like Kuechly and Davis....so I'd be willing to ride the 4-3 out for another few seasons while Kuechly is still technically in his prime but after that....a long with a coaching change we should switch back to the 3-4 once we're forced to rebuild.

I think it's time now, after this season. Keuchly could still be the impact player he is now in a 3-4.

I've become a big believer in it since App State switched to it and our defense has been pretty dominant the past few years

I don't think it'd be wise to switch schemes mid season.  I do think it would be wise soon though.  I think it's the reason the Saints own us right now.  Brees knows our defense better then half our defenders because he's been playing against it for 7 years....same with Matt Ryan.

Yeah, I definitely meant after the season. We don't have all the personnel to run it.

Hell, we could try and throw some 3-4 looks in just to give other teams something different to look at.

We have some personal that could transition into 3-4. Addison could play OLB with his size, Short at DT, stick Poe at NT....it’s possible but your gonna have to pick up players in FA or the draft. Clowney is a FA next year, he’s been in the Texans 3-4. Oh the possibilities.

yeah cam gets smacked every time we play 3-4 defense. add playing from behind and starting slow which is a natural panther trait. the odds aren't in our favor.

the only 3-4 defense we've been good for is the packers really... but even nick Perry lays the wood on cam sometimes

    • I think it will be hard to not go edge in the second if we go QB first. Say you have Starks, one of Bond/Egbuka, and maybe one Edge (don't have a name to throw out that is end of 1st round projected and may slide)... do you still go Starks? Just curious. I haven't looked into starks much, as I've been focused on QB, WR, and DL prospects.
