If Keith Lewis Stays Who Goes?

If K. Lewis stays, who goes?

Recently signed S Keith Lewis was a special team standout with the 49ers. If he can impress enough to help our ailing special teams and keep his job after Wesley returns then who goes? Who can we release that could be expendable without serious depth concerns?

If Lewis plays well, we may keep him because remember...we do not have another legit safety behind Harris.

We have too many corners and frankly, Martin is a project. I think we could put him on the practice squad. I seriously doubt he'll get picked up. Either that or Martin could get a hangnail and get IRed.

i'm not sure who should be released but, imo, wesley is now a must for special teams. you know that returners are going to be worried about him getting there. gunners are supposed to strike fear in the heart of the returner and make them not want to touch that ball. who better than someone who was just suspended for knocking another returner out? wesley was less than a half second form having a clean hit. if lewis can do a good job as a gunner then no way should we let him go. keep him and wesley and cut some underachiever on the roster. as poorly as we have covered punts we need to have gunners who can at least make the returner hesitate.

Only person I see him conceivably threatening is Quinton Teal, but I too think he's a temp.
this would be the right call...giving teal the boot in favor of lewis. teal is pretty useless. he's not a good special teamer and he's not a good safety at all. if you can't do one or the other well then you shouldn't be on the team.

    • interesting   Mike Kaye @mike_e_kaye · 3h We’ve only been to five open workouts but it sure seems like the #Panthers prefer Brady Christensen as an OT as opposed to an IOL at least based on the small sample size.
