Looks to me 

#97 went to deep on the edge and couldnt make the play on the reverse 

Luke resd the play well and not Poe but TD throws him off.  TD reads it wrong and slams head onto Luke screening off Luke

 

Poe while didn't do much, really didnt get pushed back either

Anytime your nose tackle ends up a yard back from the LoS as soon as the ball is snapped... it ain't great news.

poe is the biggest failure. I feel like they wanted to hush the loss of Star and reached at Poe. Also we paid him too much. He's playing like a rookie at times. Last night confirms we are missing Star/Norwell and still need a better option at LT

I never really been about firing someone but this D looks so bad. What is usually our strong suit is now a liability. I am not a fan of Washington. Hope he proves me wrong, but if Ben was able to score at will like that, drew Bree’s will break a record on us and I can’t stand the saints. I hope I am wrong but things need to be shook up.

This defense was ass last year too and the year before. I don't think Star to Poe made much of a difference. We were just masking it with long drawn out 8 minute FG drives. I'm pretty sure we've been bottom dwellers in terms of yards allowed per play for a while now.

This, this right here may be the reason our DLine is so unimpressive. Luke effin' catches what they don't and he will literally kill himself to do it. It's like what happens if you have one really hard worker in an office setting and a bunch of folks who get paid well and are basically untouchable to boot... it ends up being a bunch of folks dragging their feet or hitting Facebook while one person kills themselves making sure the deadlines are met. It doesn't get better, it just keeps grinding down as they keep getting by and no one faces any consequences.

Our LBs are solid, our CBs are young, our safeties are aging but our DEs and DBs are soaking up good paychecks and half-efforting it. Love, who isn't bringing down the big bucks, seems to be the most motivated and I would bet that on plays where there's a sack or tackle for a loss, you'll see Kyle Love in there battling for all he's worth.

And KK, he hasn't been the same since he got the big money. But what ya gonna do?

The pick that cost us Hunter Henry and Olsens replacement. Could still have the TE we drafted this year and be gtg at the TE position from here on out.

KK Short - Pretty much invisible all season long. 

Dontari Poe - Huge disappointment.

 

Kyle love is our best interior DL and that isn't ideal. 

 

These guys need to pick it up and in a hurry. 

 

 

A lot of this could go back to Washington....and truly Brady Hoke was an awful hire.  Overall I think Hurney has done a decent job...but he has made a glaring mistake. Relying on an older undersized Addison and an old all time great in Peppers.  I love Pep and he actually made some plays....but he needs to be a rotation player to be his most effective.   We needs some Juice coming off the edge and we just don't have it.  Also our blitz game is awful.

Maybe it’s cause Washington is not a defensive coordinator.. he needs to focus on the dline cause they are not playing hungry.. it’s like bunch of CONTENT old guys on the dline.. can we make a change before it hurts us big time?... I really hate how we have favoritism for vets and coaches.. just because they’ve been there for a while doesn’t mean they are the next best option.

Agree.  This game reminded me of the 2014 Packers game with Star at DT.  I think that unless you have a transcendent group of edge rushers the 4-3 is absolute garbage.  The reason Denver won the SB with a 4-3 is because of Von Miller and Demarcus Ware.  We don't have that.  Most teams don't.   It's important for teams that don't have that edge talent to offset it by using good creativity and disguising blitzes.  I think the 4-3 can hamper the creativity it requires to get to the QB consistently.
