The most unique offensive talent in the history of the game and that's with an inept offensive coordinator and few offensive weapons for the vast majority of his career.  Thirty years from now people will still be looking for the next Cam Newton.

Up until this year, the league wasn't all that bothered about Cam.  It was clear that his style of play combined with the way he was used would lead to a shorter than average career.

If I was the rest of the league, the changes this year would terrify me.  With Norv calling the plays, Cam's career may have just gained another 3-5 years.  We may have Cam around for another 5-8 years the way he's now able to give the ball to other playmakers and have success.

Cam has the potential to be our first ever career start to career finish HoF'er.  The only way it could be any sweeter is if Luke manages to stay healthy and becomes our second.  Imagine the bedlam in Charlotte if those two go in together.

I mean that’s all I care about. As a fan, why should anything else matter?

Because individual players don't win super bowls, teams do.  So, that shouldn't be a major factor in if a qb  is excellent or not.

Still plenty of time left in his career for Cam to check that box too.

That’s kind of my point, as a Panther’s fan, if my team is winning Super Bowls why would I care about the QB’s stats?

Do you think any single Eagles fan cared they won it all with their back up QB? Maybe Wentz fans but not Eagle fans.

So when someone says people only care about SBs it makes me think that we have a large fan base happy with Madden stats from our QB and a SB comes second.

And as a Panther fan I just wonder why...

I agree with your sentiment in general, but due to this being a post about Cam specifically, I think you are taking this out of context.  This ia, after all, a thread about how amazing cam is and how he often doesnt get the credit he deserves for his play...

When it comes to rating QBs, some fans and pundits care only about super bowls... but that, to me, is short sighted because of the nature of what it takes to win a super bowl.  That doesnt mean I would rather have cam win mvp but lose the super bowl.  It just means I recognize he isnt solely responsible for this teams success or failure in that regard.

As a fan I care most about super bowls.. but I also enjoy celebrating the accomplishments of the players.  In this case, Cam is practically in a league of his own.  He certainly seems likely to reach the HoF some day, SB or not... especially if his play continues at this level with Norv.

Sometimes great QBs are lost in the fog of what people THINK a good QB should be.

As evidence, I point to Drew Brees being shown the door after an injury, leaving San Diego (who've really accomplished nothing of note with Phillip Rivers), and only New Orleans and Miami expressing interest in the short, slight player. Miami passed even though his shoulder looked like it would be fine.

Atlanta frikkin' trades away a young, and somewhat difficult to corral, Brett Favre to Green Bay, hoping to make something out of a draft pick and lose a headache in the process. Green Bay becomes noteworthy, and champions, again due to the gunslingers ability.

Every danged team in the NFL passes on Tom Brady for five and a half rounds of the Draft. Every team.

People outside of this fanbase and a few sports writers just can't see Cam, or at least understand his impact on the game. He is the NFL's Climate Change --- so many deny him, but each year the evidence and the aftershocks reverberate louder and louder.

Exactly... it doesn’t matter if he’s a great runner or a great pocket passer or what the numbers say.... till he wins the sb people still for some reason think he sucks

Don’t really give two craps about what the media thinks. Listen to both active and retired players and a overwhelming majority praise him.

one thing I’d like to see him do that he’s never done is catch a td pass... this place would erupt

We should save that play for our next Super Bowl appearance. Definitely should do it because of how epic it'd be. And it would demoralize the AFC team at the same time, helping us win.
