that crowd doesn't really exist.   I mean technically I guess there are some but it is too small of a number to even care about.

reality is, there was virtually zero blow back big picture when we signed Reid.

Not a large majority but I have seen a few on the huddle say they were selling their psls and no longer supporting the team.

What is different?  How do you assume, "He will get paid?"  He was on the  shelf a long time at the discount warehouse and nobody wanted him.  Since then, he has been kneeling, had the ordeal before the Ravens game, got fined for unsportsmanlike conduct, etc.  What makes him more attractive now when he was not before?

Spot on post.

There won’t be many teams vying for Reid’s services, and that’s even with his play getting better week to week. He’ll still be viewed as a distraction, as 90% of the teams front offices will ask him if he’s going to continue kneeling, just like the Bengals did.

One thing that was an encouraging sign to me was both Reid and Luke’s 3 tap dap session on Luke’s mic’d up segment. That, the reaction to him getting the game ball, and one of the players calling him Brother Malcolm lol. It’s showing that he is not a distraction in the locker room like a few on here said he’d be. Football wise, this team is a good fit for Reid. As long as he continues to play well and continue his work in the community, Tepper and Panthers won’t have a problem with him protesting or speaking on what he’s fighting for. It’s a good fit

Good! They should give the money they received for their tickets to the wounded warriors or VA. I’m sureeeeeee they will even consider doing that.

That is called hypocrisy, something many do not even see any longer.  It is an excuse that allows you to cheer for a black who won't salute a flag forged in the fires of white elitism.   Do not boo the man (because you do not understand him) then cheer him when he does something that  benefits you.

Here is a general rule I have:  If you are white, don't tell minorities how they should feel or who/what they should salute or respect.  If you are not gay, don't tell gays how to feel or act.   If you are rich, don't judge the values of the poor--I bet you have opinions about everyone who does not adhere to your ideals and values,, right?

For the record, I have been white my entire life, and this is the first time in that life I am embarrassed about it.

Where did he say anything about booing Reid or telling Reid how he should feel/what to respect? All he said was he disagreed with Reid’s politics but would cheer on his play for the Panthers. Based on a simple disagreement, you have leveled accusations of hypocrisy and white elitism. Go to extremes much?

On the topic of the thread, I love Reid on the Panthers. I am happy that Tepper supports Reid’s stance on social issues, and I don’t understand why the media needs to comment on his kneeling every game. I hope the Panthers can re-sign him to a long term deal.

What's different?

A team took a chance on him and it worked...at least seemingly.  GM's and coaches need to win, not want to win, need to win.  If they think that Reid will help them win, he will be paid.  If he is healthy and grades out the rest of the year, he will get paid.  If we make a run in the playoffs, and he is splashed across a nationally televised game, and has a good game, he will get paid.

We can probably afford him in the offseason, but not right now.  That's my point.

Again, it would be pretty damn dumb of him to accept a lowball offer from the Panthers right now, which is all that we would be able to offer him.  Get through the season, play as well as you can, and go sign a good deal when you hit free agency.

Don't get me wrong, I see your point.  My point is/was, "I am not so sure that other teams would think it is working here."  RR runs a solid locker room--I give him that--he is one of the best.  The owner supports the players on this cause.  The team is winning, and that helps people overlook things.  I do not see many other teams set up to tolerate him--since they refused to tolerate him before.

We got a new owner, new coordinators, and new players at S--we had to "wait and see."  Whatever it was about Reid that teams did not want has not changed.  They all knew he can play football and still left him alone.

All it takes is one.  Hell, we were bidding against ourselves in the Charles Johnson market a number of years ago.

I don't care at all about his kneeling, his locker room speeches, nor him being a "distraction", I care about his play....as do other GM's and coaches.

Will every team line up to pay him?  No.  Does every team need a Safety?  No.  But many do, and many will.

If you can stomach having Tyreek Hill on your roster, you can stomach Eric Reid, and everything he brings with him.

You guys are praising him for playing well, and bringing awareness to a cause, but are hoping that we are able to low ball him to keep him here on the cheap?  That doesn't sound right to me.

At the end of the day, my OPINION is (if he stays healthy), he will be sought out by other teams, and the Panthers will likely be one of them...however, we have some pretty damn expensive pieces on this team, and Ron doesn't value the S position as much as many.

yeah, anyone else consider that strange?  Was it his time out of the game or our definite need at safety?

I expected our fanbase to be filled with the "I'm never supporting that team again" crowd.  But as you pointed out, very little blowback.

Because 95% plus of fans don't care about anything surrounding the team other than win or lose. Reid helps the team win, everyone happy. Reid sucks on the field, everyone pissed. Glad it's the former.
