Irvin is just like Hardy was. Raw coming out of college and used only as a 3rd down pass rusher. Didnt fit in Oakland but that doesnt mean he isnt a DE.  Just means he needs more grooming to be a every play DE. As a linebacker he is subpar.  

 

Would I pick him up for 4 million nope.  Pick up for 1 definitely and use him for what he is a situational pass rusher.

Hardy wasnt a generational talent like Peppers... it took him a few years to grow into being a dominant player, and there's no way to know how long he would have sustained it given his issues, but his 2013 season was as good as any of Peppers' single seasons.

If true, that he can’t be trusted long term, and this DE corps sucks hind tit, and this franchise let him play in BOA vs Kansas City in August 2014 and at Tampa in September 2014, then why not sign him to a one year deal now?

You guys are crazy, Peppers is 4th all-time in the history of the NFL in sacks he's definitely the best DE of his generation, and number# 1 in Panthers history. 

But back to the topic, with the Saints kicking the tires of Dez Bryant today, I think the Panthers definitely should try to obtain Irvin, a consistent pass rush is the only thing we have been musing on defense this season. I think a move like that would put us over the top in the NFC.

I would have said there was a 0% chance but if the people covering the team thinks it could then there may be whispers going on if the circumstances are right. She goes on to mention that we would also need him to essentially take a discount from what he's worth to play for a contender. Still a long shot but the likelihood is definitely more than 0.
