PFF: Panthers’ Curtis Samuel is finding his role in the NFL, deserves more touches

So I was curious and went to look at our snap count distribution from yesterday to see what roles each guy was playing offensively by putting them all together so they equaled 100% of the snap counts for each of the 5 offensive skill player positions.

WR1 - Funchess 45/62; Samuel 17/62

WR2 - Moore 53/62; Byrd 9/62

WR3/TE2/FB/RB2/Extra OT - Wright 22/62; Manhertz 25/62; Armah 10/62; Anderson 2/62; Newhouse 3/62

TE1 - Olsen 60/62, Thomas 2/62

RB1 - McCaffrey 61/62, Anderson 1/62

So looks like Samuel is pretty much just being played as Funchess backup right now. It's not perfect since Newhouse and Armah would have shared the field so someone else would have gone off but it worked out pretty cleanly. Wouldn't mind some of those Wright snaps going to Samuel. Not sure how I would feel about taking Funchess off the field more.

What I want to know is where the hell is Anderson. If nothing else, he should have been on the field during that last possession slamming into a wall of defense to run out the clock while CMC stood on the sideline celebrating a job well done.

Maybe we're actually punishing him for the Super Bowl and the trash talk. Kinda like 50 Cent buying up all of Ja Rule's records and shows.

It’s  this part that’s makes him special.

He’s also had a step or more of separation on 75.0% of his targets this season, which is tied for the ninth-highest mark among receivers with 10-plus targets on the year.

In addition to his improved route-running and ability to get open, Samuel has a proven knack for making plays after the catch and forcing missed tackles. Among the 136 receivers with at least five catches this season, Samuel ranks first in forced missed tackles per reception and 30th in yards after the catch per reception (5.50).

ive been saying since training camp that he is the quickest guy on the field.  Love what he brings.

I want everyone to notice that if you click that fuging fart fug of an article, Cam Newton's name isn't mentioned once. Samuel did catch a TD that sealed the victory on Sunday. fug them.

Ummm.   Did know if you noticed but it was an article about Curtis not Cam.

Damn.  You would be hateful winning the lottery.

I wonder if using him situationally is about getting him adjusted after his heart issue and time away from the team. He has earned more touches but the game plan for this game will be more of the same as last Sunday with a few new wrinkles to adjust to Pittsburgh. Didn't have time for a full installment.
