Pointless Observations

I was bored so I thought that I would break down the scoring our defense has allow by subtracting the punt/kick/int/fum returns for touchdowns and I also discounted the times the offense turned over the ball inside our 20, 3 times so far this year. Our defense has given up 125 points this season, but if you subtract out the above numbers, it lowers it to 69 points or 13.8 points a game good enough for 2nd in the nfl behind the Denver Broncos.

Like I said I was bored, but the number did suprise me considering how bad our defense looked to start off the year.

Fixed for you. This is not all that surprising to me. Jake and our not-so special teams have put our D and team in some big holes this season. I have no idea how Crossman still has a job and the same can be said about Jake.

We actually have a good defense. I'd like to see what the hometown guy can bring. If he can bring it the D may be monstrous and more so next year when Kemo comes back.

We'll have some good highly motivated homegrown (90,91,93,97) run stoppers and pass rushers. I would think it to be a privilege to play for your home team. Tylers frame reminds me of old #99. If he's as good we'll be set.

You forgot 95.

I made a similar post to this last week and found it to be pretty telling as to how bad our offense and special teams have been. During the tampa game I just uttered, "there's 14 more points that were scored without the defense even stepping foot on the field." Its tough but the offense and the special teams are the biggest problem right now, not the defense.

Meeks is taking a hell of a lot more heat than he should be. I honestly like our defense, as much as their uncanny ability to allow third down conversions frustrates me. They've been put in quite a few bad situations this year but have responded nicely anyway.

Plugging in the Tank will help as well... if the middle gets plugged up, look for Beason to put up more big numbers. If the middle gets pushed in, look for Peppers to put up more big numbers, and the DB's to magically look amazing.

I like where we are headed defensively.
