James Bradberry - Respect

Jimmy

Recommended Posts

James Bradberry has been lights out this year.  Sure, there are times we pull out of hair when we see the opponent's WRs get a 10-15 yard cushion but that is more scheme and DC play calling  than technique.  They are doing what they are told.

Bradberry against the #1 WR's thus far this year:

34 receptions/394 yards/1 TD

That's an average of 4.25 rec/game - 49.25 yards/game - 0.125 TDs/game

Allen Hurns, Julio Jones, AJ Green, OBJ, Paul Richardson, Nelson Agholor, Willie Snead, Mike Evans (#1 on their teams respective depth charts)

He has another big test Thursday against Antonio Bryant. He has shown he can handle it.

SOLID! Having a Pro Bowl season!

He's absolutely an elite cover guy. If he had ball skills and hands he'd be among the league's very best CBs. As is, I'll take an elite cover guy who has bricks for hands and no clue where the ball is when it's in the air. Thats just icing on the cake and icing that would cost us untold millions when it's time to re-sign him.

Alshon and Crabtree rather than Agholor and Snead. But yeah I agree he's been a complete beast and against 4 top 7 WRs in Julio, AJ, Odell and Evans...

If you add Alshon and Crabtree:

441 yards - 33 rec - 2 TD - The averages are still 4.125 rec/55.125 yds/0.25 TDs

Still Pro Bowl worthy at this point.

Gets a good write up here -

http://www.joebucsfan.com/2018/11/ira-kaufman-10-takeaways-bucs-panthers/

“* His name is James Bradberry and he’s a second-round draft pick out of Samford in 2016. He’s also the rangy, aggressive cornerback who made Mike Evans disappear. Evans was targeted 10 times by Fitzpatrick and latched onto only one football as Bradberry showed Buc fans and Buc coaches how to excel at press coverage. By the time Carolina selected Bradberry with the 62nd overall pick, the Bucs had already chosen Vernon Hargreaves, Noah Spence and Roberto Aguayo. Yikes.”

We may have another Chris Gamble on our hands -- a stud DB who quietly shuts down their best receiver. Doesn't get a lot of INTs, just neutralizes the biggest threat. That's a very, very good thing.

He and Jackson made Tampa's two world-class receivers just completely disappear.

Add in Eric Reid and you ought to call them the Gastonia Triangle or something.

That was not really Chris Gamble.  Chris Gamble is either 1 or 2 in interceptions in Panthers history.  He had 13 picks in his first 2 years.  And he didn't want to/didn't like to/ didn't try to tackle anybody.  That's almost the opposite of what Bradberry is.

    • i felt good for those few games that bryce didn't look like the worst in the league. all that fell apart again sunday.  i'm borderline just bailing on it all. i've been hanging on by a thin thread for several years. i mean it's not even fun to watch any football right now.
