I'll argue that the opposite could actually be true. The NFL has a LOT to lose by looking like the big bad bully, and not much to gain. All the noise about Kap not getting another shot is bad enough, especially since he (talent-wise) may not actually deserve one. That has to sting. I would speculate that the NFL would very much prefer to have this whole mess just go away, and the slightest whiff of bias against an entire team would light that fire right back up. Also, having your brash new owner in the heart of the red states thumb his nose at the whole situation actually works in their favor. They can kind of throw up their hands and be all like "Owners gonna own! what can you do?".
