Is this the most talented* Panthers team ever?

This is our most talented offensive unit ever. Overall this is one of our top teams when everyone is healthy. This is not one of our top defensive squads, but that was bound to happen when we drafted KB, FunFun, Samuel, and DJ. Just a lot of top draft currency going to the offense, and Worley being terrible. Not a top defense.

Maybe on offense.

Definitely not on defense, or overall.

Top 5? I can agree it’s most certainly not our best defense. But, the “were ok at most positions sort of a middle grounds” make this squad pretty well rounded I feel. Not the Panthers defense we have become accustomed to but, when pushed I think they have enough left in the tank to get the job done. Offense is just scratching the surface of how good they can be.

I feel like these threads get created by our new post Cam fans who don’t know much about the Panthers.

The answer is no, no it is not.

I have been here longer than you. But whatever makes you sleep at night. If you don’t care to discuss why go out of ur way to troll someone else.

Not being an asshole but I'm sure you meant Eric Reid instead of Eric Berry.

Just an FYI.

As far as offensive talent...it is the most potentially talented squad we have had in a while. Hope the young boys keep showing us why.

It’s possible but this team hasn’t really come into its own yet. We haven’t seen Samuel or Moore really blow up the passing game like we are anticipating. But I think it is coming.

Defensively with secondary maybe so time will tell. The d line still has a lot to prove though.

Than the 1996 team with Kevin Greene, Wesley Walls, Howard Griffin, and a host of others?

I mean, that season Dom Capers Dominating Defense, beating Steve Young’s 49ers twice to win the NFC West, beating the Super Bowl champion Cowboys led by Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith and Deon Sanders to go to the NFC Championship,...

no,..

Not even close to the 2015 team. No where close.

I take this team over 2015. who was our number 1 wr ted ginn? the saints 4-5 wr? Who were the corners that year?  the line was worse than it is now,The 2015 year was exceeding expectations and cam playing out of his mind. This squad is more talented.

2013 by far was more talented on both sides

Offense- Smitty, Olsen, Shockey, Double Trouble, Tolbert and much better oline

Defense

Luuuuke, Beas, TD, Hardy, and Rucker

Smitty i give you But Olsen is on both sides,Shockey was at the end of his career and not the same guy you remember. Double trouble vs cmc,Moore, wright Samuel byrd and so on i take the now boys.  The line was better i agree.

As for defense,Luke is here now and better than he was, TD is here so push, beason vs shaq? Beason was great before injuries slowed him down. Hardy and ruck i give you, Short and poe plus addision could make up that loss to me. Secondary give me the current guys.

Talented? On paper, perhaps, but the defense has massively under-performed for the amount of talent, money and draft picks that have been thrown at it.

Washington has apparently adopted the bend-don't-break philosophy, which relies on the other team to make mistakes. In this day and age, with shorter pass routes and higher completion percentages, it's just not a great idea. It also reduces the impact of the overall individual talent, which is just so wrong.

I have always thought the 2008 team was the most talented team ever.  It"s just that Jake forgot what color our jerseys were in the playoffs.  Besides QB, TE and maybe LB, that team had more talent at every position than this current team.  OL, RB, DL, and everywhere in the secondary was all better.  I would even say the WR's were better, the current team has a deeper group than the 2008 team but not one of the current guys is going to get anywhere near Steve Smith's 1400 yards from 2008 and I don't know if I would take any of the current guys over the 2008 version of Moose.

2015 Cam was who he is right now. Spreading the ball all over the field. Stew was a better runner than this year CMC. Olsen was better. Remmer was the only weak spot on the Oline while Norwell and Trai were eating boys for breakfast.

The 15’ defense was so nasty. This year defense is just now playing its first good overall game vs the Ravens. Wentz and Ert were doing whatever they wanted to the first three qts. Norman was having his best season and probably the best corner in the entire NFL that season. Coleman was 2nd in INTs. Short had 11 sack and was disruptive. LB core was better with Luke, TD and Klein with Shaq as the 4th lb. Jared Allen added great depth.

I don't think Cam is the same as he was then. I don't think his arm is as strong due to his shoulder. It's still good but clearly he isn't throwing the deep ball as well. I would even argue that he doesn't look like he moves as well running the ball. Yes he is still mobile and faster than most, but has he looked like Cam from years past running the rock? CMC vs stew and deangelo is a tough one, because he isnt close to them as far as being running back but he is closer to them their than they are to him Catching the football seeing as he already is the panthers running back all-time leader in receiving touchdowns. Yes younger Olsen was better but Olsen isnt playing bad. Moton would start on that squad(could make the pro bowl so i say him and norwell cancel out), Darrell Williams as well,Trai is still Trai  so if were I think the talent on the line is a lot closer than you think. Norman hands down was better. But our Depth at corner I feel is better now than then. Reid or Coleman.....Coleman on the numbers but, I like Reid's size and talent more. Short is Short still. Klein does not give any edge that we dont currently have. Allen then at that point isn't better than Addison right now i feel.
