The Raiders could have 10 first round draft picks and it wouldn’t fix this mess.

i mean how many high draft picks have the browns had for several years and they still can't put it together? Goes to show you draft picks aint everything.

I remember being happy for the Raiders finally building up their team. They were building similar to ours. Everything was looking up. Then they hired Gruden and everything has gone down hill. Just imagine us hiring back John Fox and he gets rid of Kuechly and DJ Moore. Then will eventually get rid of Cam. Heads would be rolling. I feel sad for them.

To be fair, the Raiders were 6-10 last year.  With the 24th Defense (with Mack!), 17th Offense.  1 winning season from 2003-2017.  That was 2016, they were 12-4.  This was sandwiched between a 6-10 and 7-9 season.  Their top 3 WRs were Jared Cook, Amari Cooper, Crabtree.  1 is still there (Cook), who had one of his career best seasons last year at 650 something yards and 2 tds.

Their 2016 12-4 season, featured Amari Cooper and Crabtree having career best seasons, both at 1k+ yards, while still having a bottom rung defense (mid 20s range, depending on stat).

Everything points at what they had in 2016 being a fluke, more than anything.  In 2016, the Raiders played the NFC South, which had Atlanta at 11-5, Bucs at 9-7, Saints at 7-9, and we won't talk about the Panthers..in which they went 3-1.  While in 2016, their Offense was 6th, it quickly regressed back to ~17th in 2017.

This was all before Gruden showed up.

I don't exactly blame him for blowing up the team.  Its just going to be embarrassing to watch for a while.

The media's focus on Jon Gruden has been a blessing to Derek Carr. His play has been terrible and everyone can clearly see that he is not a franchise QB. Media is so focused on Gruden that they forget about Carr.

Exactly why Chucky is blowing up the team and collecting picks.

Think the Raiders have already amassed 5 first round picks over the next 2 drafts.

Look, guys like Gruden, Cowher, Dennis Green were good coaches at one time. But while the game may not pass them by, their approach to it and their relationship with players has definitely changed in the generation or so since Chucky last coached.

It's been 15 years since Gruden was successful in the NFL. Hope Raider fans are willing to wait another 2-3 years, at least.

Quick shout out to everybody who suggested we should hire Gruden...

Granted, he's still in his first year and hasn't built his full system yet, but his history in Tampa doesn't really suggest that he'll improve as he goes along.

His scheme seem a bit dated but maybe I'm bias.
