Norv ~ Shula?

Anyone who thinks our weapons have "vastly" improved from last year needs their eyes replaced and a brain transplant. If anything Funchess has been worse this year and so has Olsen. Moore while he has potential has only flashed and Samuel is the same way. This team has been willed by Cam and Norv to the record we have.

Do you actually watch the games? Ever?

The scheme is the same, we knew that would be the case. They said that would be the case, they say that is the case.

The play calling within the scheme is better.

The players are playing better because some of them are better. There is more offensive talent on the field and it's not even really close.  This is also due to being more experienced and because of better play calling. Better play, better play calling, more experience, more talent = better offense. Nothing surprising.

Cam is playing more efficiently because there is better play calling and being surrounded by more talent that is playing better for the same reasons listed above.

This isn't complicated.

Just because there are some elements that are similar, I would not say that scheme is the same.  Play design is not the same.   Play by play strategy is not the same.   I think Norv simplified the playbook, and there are fewer moving parts.  The blocking is simpler and better, the running backs are reading the blocks better.  Cam is stepping up in the pocket more.  Our receivers routes are waaay better resulting in more open receivers.   Carry over WR's are performing better than last year, CMC is performing better, Cam is performing better.

4th quarter against the eagles and last week against the ravens, our offense hasn't looked that  good since Chud was running the show.

This is not the same scheme.

Having the most talented receivers in the world doesn't really matter if the play is designed so that they're all running to the same place.

Both play calling and play design are significantly improved from Shula. I can't really say situational play calling or adjustments have improved, because they weren't here before.

It's pretty obvious that it has taken time for Norv to install his system on the offense. We've seen new wrinkles and new directions rolled out each week and an identity for the team has started to form. But...

I don't think we've seen it come to fruition quite yet. In a couple of weeks we should see what our standard offense really will look like, and early projections look good. Can the players execute it? I hope so, but time will tell.

And on that, the potential for Norv to be an improvement over Shula is definitely there, and the signs are pointing that way, but the proof will be on the field as the weather turns cold.

Shula had some nice seasons. It was time to move on though. I personally wish him the best and thank him for his service, 2015 was a heck of a season for him.

I think it was time to make a change just from a tendency perspective. Norv and Shula may use a lot of the same concepts but the tendencies have changed. Anytime division opponents can get film on a coordinator for 5 seasons they're gonna know the tendencies. With Norv we gain an element of the unknown which I think leads to freezing defenders.

Go back to the Super Bowl and watch what adjustments were made. Listen to the opposing teams players laughing at how we didn’t change a thing, and that they knew exactly what was about to happen. If we went down in a game, there was no climbing out of a hole because of this. Not to mention losing all timeouts every game because of plays coming in too late.

Let’s think before we speak if you’re going to be a reputable website. There is no comparison.

From a play design perspective they are the same. From a play calling perspective they are worlds apart.

I disagree.  Blocking patterns resulting in holes for the CMC, Cam stepping up into the pocket,  WR's being wide open.  No, this may look like the same scheme, but underneath the hood, this is a different beast.

wow, yea i need my eyes checked then and not sure if brain transplants even exist. as long as it's not receiving yours, i may consider it though.

for real, if you can't see the vast improvement of offensive weapons from last year, you may need your eyes replaced and a brain transplant.

Improvement Yes....vast not so much.  Wright has been solid and Moore is up and coming but VAST is a big reach.

Samuel was a part of last year so you can't could him as well as Byrd and Funchess.

The reason we are better than last year is because of Turner and his scheme.

Isn't it ironic how the Giants are blaming Eli? I see the same anemic offense we had.  That just shows how great Cam really is.  Shula can't do squat with Eli, Barkley and OBJ yet even with a anemic offense Cam guided us to 11-5.

I think what PanthersFilm is missing here is that CMC has HAD ROOM TO RUN and Cam has had TIME TO PASS  with a hobbled/makeshift Oline.

Norv is less predictable than Shula, schemes and adjusts better the Shula.  Norv>>>Shula

Just glad we didnt have to find out if this was true...
