wow, yea i need my eyes checked then and not sure if brain transplants even exist. as long as it's not receiving yours, i may consider it though.

for real, if you can't see the vast improvement of offensive weapons from last year, you may need your eyes replaced and a brain transplant.

There has only been one addition or ten additions to the offense. Wright and Dj. Beni is Torrey. The rest were on the team hurt. Even so with CMC the scheme he had for him was hot and cold often CMC would be taken out of the game plan after performing well. Shula was wishy washy. Having Benji run deep routes when clearly he was not the man for or running. Lot of runs in the middle of the strength of a defense. Come on! It is night and day between Norv and Shula. We would still have the same problems if Shula was here does not know how totally use personnl wisely

I don't see all the WRs running to the same place. I don't see plays taking nearly as long to develop.

I do see us adapting to what works and I'm seeing a lot more that works.

Norv knows how to adapt better.

Norv knows how to use the playbook better.

Norv knows how to develop new plays based on the talent he has available.

Norv knows how to manage games and players better.

Norv just knows how to make it all work in a way that Shula never has.

Shula had one successful year running an offense ever. At some point you have to get the idea that maybe.....just maybe it's him.

Meanwhile, with the exception of a little bit of time in Minnesota, Norv has always had successful offenses. Maybe....just maybe it's him.

That's not to say the whole reason for our success here recently is because of Norv, but he's using the pieces better than shula could ever hope to.

I am in total agreement.  I recall that Shula said that he liked to script his first twenty five plays.  So if his gameplan wasn't cooking, we had no chance because he was still going to call those twenty-five plays before even attempting anything else.  Think about that.  If a team is going three and out, that is a whole half or more worth of possessions.  Norv on the other hand scripts six.  Six plays and he said he will scrap those plays if he doesn't like what he sees after 1st and 2nd down.  These two are like night and day.  And to me the offenses look the same, but Norv is way more creative with route combinations and blocking schemes.

25 plays before you adjust? I can’t believe that. ( not saying your lying) . Just how bad Shula was as a play caller. Almost as bad as Jeff Davidson’s. Run on 1st, Run on 2nd, run on 3rd maybe play action , punt. https://www.teamrankings.com/nfl/stat/plays-per-game?date=2018-02-05

last year we averaged about 65 plays on offense per game. I mentioned awhile ago in another thread, Shula plays checkers and Norv plays chess.

However i do believe that our offensive weapons are better compared to last year. But i can’t see Shula doing better with what we have now.

I think what PanthersFilm is missing here is that CMC has HAD ROOM TO RUN and Cam has had TIME TO PASS  with a hobbled/makeshift Oline.

Norv is less predictable than Shula, schemes and adjusts better the Shula.  Norv>>>Shula

From a play design perspective they are the same. From a play calling perspective they are worlds apart.

There have been plays called this year by Norv that Shula didn't have the intelligence to create even with his largest box of crayons and construction paper.  Norv is using his PhD while Shula struggled with getting his kindergarten certificate.  That's only the eye test. If you go deeper you can only be amazed at what Cam and the O did to survive Shula.

Norv can adjust, something Shula couldn't. There's no way the end of the Skins and Eagles games would have happened with Shula

Also another key piece of being an OC is your offensive line. Blocking schemes and design, something Shula wasn't good at and I believe that's why our offensive line struggled. This season is different

Norv wants to feature CMC and use CJ Anderson as situational... Shula wanted J Stew to be featured and CMC to be situational.

Norv has an injured Torrey Smith who has been struggling to stay on the field, Devin Funchess, a rookie WR in DJ Moore who already cost the Panthers a loss, and Jarius Wright who sees situational 3rd downs... Shula had KB, Funchess, Sheppard, and CMC at WR to start the season. He used CMC in the downfield passing scheme as a WR and 3rd down receiver instead of an outlet for Cam and force fed KB.

Shula was able to lean on a vet TE in Dickson when Olsen went down... Norv had to scheme around a rookie TE in Ian Thomas when Olsen went down.

Shula had his OL in tact to start the season and had to deal with 1 replacement at center... Norv had an OL that fell apart early and had to piece it together and scheme around their weaknesses.

Norv uses his offensive weapons and puts them in a position to make plays. Shula did not put players in the proper position to use their strengths, relied on his star players as decoys, and force fed the project players for the first 3 quarters of the game with the exception of forcing it to KB on 3rd down.

Under Norv, Greg Olsen is not going to be used as a primary blocker in the backfield for 3 quarters, CMC is going to be given the ball in open field and used as a constant threat in the backfield for defenses to worry about. None of the WRs will be force fed. The primary reads in the passing game will always use the top 3 offensive weapons on the field instead of decoys. Most importantly, Norv is going to scheme to get Cam weapons/options and get the ball out quickly instead of loading up on max protect with 1 or 2 receiving options and letting Cam hold the ball in the pocket too long.

That is the difference.

I believe Norv would have been able to scheme plays to get more out of KB too.

Not sure if this has been pointed out... Michael Irvin in his first 3 seasons was KB like. Aikman was horrible with sub 60% completions even with Irvin in his first 2 seasons. This was with Jimmy Johnson as HC and Dave Wannstedt as DC. They changed the OC replacing Shula with Turner. Instant results of Aikman firing off 65%+ completions and Irvin becoming an All Pro receiver. The result was SB championships and a short lived Cowboys dynasty.

Now, that was Mike Shula's brother, David Shula, that Turner replaced, but it was still the same inept offensive garbage from the Shulas.
