people keep saying this and they could be right but over 30 of my ex-military friends (USAF and Army mostly) do not watch NFL anymore. And 12 of us use to be in a fantasy football league. So I know they were nfl fans. Plus at the VA I go to this was huge last year. SO maybe on a broad scale it may be looked at that way but my small sample says otherwise. As for me, I don't give a poo either way.  I lived through Carter, Reagan Bush, Clinton, Obama and I'll probably make it through Trump. Politics isn't my thing

The irony of people stuck in the middle of the disaster that is the VA yet focused on a piece of cloth that represents a country’s broken promises to them is not lost on me

Says you.

To me it is extremely disrespectful.

Maybe you didn't serve.  Ever seen a casket with a Flag draped over it?

It is disrespectful.

You can’t relate everything in life to the death of a service member. We also have to stop pretending that service members deserve so sort of reverence. Do your job and shut off. Civilians aren’t required to blow you because you signed up for the military.

The kneeling has become ineffective.  People are talking about the kneeling and not the reason for kneeling.

No it hasn't. Stupid, gullible people are talking about the kneeling and not the reason for the kneeling. The rest of us are calling the stupid, gullible out for trying to derail the actual conversation.

Dammit!

That recruiter straight up lied to me.

“Hordes upon hordes of women and/or men will throw themselves at your feet ”

“Civilians will bow to you when you enter any room and you’ll never pay for food or libation ever again”

yeah. same.

If you have ever been on a layover with a service member in gear...you know this is damn true. Mofos will make a spectacle of themselves to buy that service member a drink/lunch/dinner...even offer their blankets and pillows if,  due to weather or whatever,  its an overnight sleep in the airport. It has almost become a competition to see which non-military bloke will go the farthest via money to show respect to the military service people in airports!

Well if it is something those people want to do then how does it affect you? Jealousy? That people don't care for you in this matter?

I support kneeling, I support social justice. However Eric Reid frequently comes across as a dick. There was no reason his response to that question had to be confrontational.

*edit: To be clear, I don't care if players act like ass holes. Smitty is my favorite all time player, it's about their game and if Reid is balling out, I'll love him too.

No issue if he kneels but I swear no one actually knows what the 1st amendment actually grants rights to. It’s the government that can’t do anything, not a private employer. He could if he wanted to.

Sorry pet peeve.

I agree.

I don't care about the kneeling one way or the other, but Rivera could sit Reid if he wants to, or Tepper/Hurney could release him.  And there wouldn't be much Reid could do about it, except perhaps file a lawsuit (that he would likely lose).

Eric Reid will probably be out of the league next year honestly. His play is ok but not worthy of his baggage and controversy that comes with him.

What controversy? Only one stirring the pot is the media. It's during a football game if u feel offended dont look at him or dont watch the pregame. This is crazy and should be none issue when he has clearly stated his purpose for not standing. There are more important issues than this dealing with veterans the military. Instead of seeking someone to stand during the anthem how about seeking proper medical treatment for them
