Comparing Cam's MVP Season Start To His Start in 2018 thus far

Was anybody 7-1 and 11 TDs ahead of him at any point during the 2015 season though? That and Gurley is on a blistering pace as well. May reach LTs TD record.

It'll be tough. Mahomes is getting all the attention and Gurley is in LA.

Brady was close to Mahomes numbers and they started 10-0

Yep won't argue against that.

Mahomes is playing out of his mind and I'm happy for him. A guy who finally gets in an amazing offensive situation early in his career after Rodgers, Luck, and Cam find themselves in muck earlier on. I'd argue the Chiefs offense right now is historic levels good as well at their pace.

He'd be a Saints if the Chiefs took Lattimore lol.

That's what I was wondering. I looked them up and they were fairly similar. Mahomes is shattering records along the way though. Interesting to see if he can keep it up.

Cam had an absolutely ludicrous second half of 2015 as well. 22 TDs and 1 INT.

The Cam playing now is a more mature, thoughtful Cam than the 2015 edition. That was magic, that was exuberant, that was a once in a lifetime situation. This Cam, he's down to business. He's in control of his game and his self.

Cam's grown up and a long winter's coming.

I don't think anyone is catching Mahomes, and that's coming from someone who would love to see Drew finally win one.

Much like the Panthers with Cam, you guys would be absolutely terrible without Drew. Definition of team MVP.

Mahomes or Gurley is MVP at this point. That said, IF the two of them hit a wall, Cam and Drew both will be in the conversation.

Didn't 3 other teams make it to 6-0 or 7-0 in 2015? Pat's, Denver, Bengals...

Cam didn't start getting serious MVP talk until we started stomping on teams. (Washington, home vs Atlanta, etc)

That said, I agree with others who say they don't care about MVP as much as wins and a SB trophy

Yes there were many and all along we were the "Worst Undefeated Team" according to the national media

Mahomes has it locked down barring injury. There is also the very good chance the Chiefs hit their wall like every Andy Reid coached team does.

this is why I haven't been able to get on the mahomes bandwagon....I've seen too many reid offenses to know that what it does for QB stats and I've seen too many reid teams hit a wall after the halfway mark to believe this will be any different.

either way, cam is doing incredible and he's trending upwards. the guy is throwing better and with far better results than ever and I think it's because he's got the right OC building and running the offense around him.

oh...and having CMC there on the field with him at all times doesn't hurt. I think that's probable going to end up being a legendary duo.

I don't think his goal is MVP. He wants the big one.

It doesn't matter what his goal is. You perform, win games, prepare like no other, and the results will follow. Goals are nice but they don't mean $hit unless you win the next down, series, quarter, half, game, quarter season, half season, 3/4 season, season, playoffs, Superb Owl.

All honesty I love Mahomes and he's the literal definition of an elite QB in arguably the best offensive situation in football. The mix of that is madden like numbers.

Though I will admit, this sort of reminds me of 2015 with the Palmer, Wilson, Brady, and Cam MVP debate. 2015 was peak QB play and offensive production all around the NFL. Hell, even Dalton was part of it for a moment.

I like to watch Mahomes play, but he is in a QB friendly (for at least 8 or 9 games every season) system with Kareem Hunt, Kelce, Sammy Watkins, and Tyreek Hill. His numbers should be adjusted down for comparison with the performance of all QB's. If someone good with statistical analysis can create a variable that accounts for surrounding talent when measuring performance to put that into perspective, please share.

As much as we like our receiving group when it includes DJ Moore and Samuel, we've watched Cam play 6 games this season with Jarius Wright, Devin Funchess, and Torry Smith. Not exactly murderers row.

The Chiefs are liable to hit 9 wins and then go winless the rest of the way. I suspect there are several teams that can beat them in any given week with a stout defensive performance including the Panthers, Bears, Patriots, Rams, Saints, Seahawks, Texans, Steelers, Browns, and the Chargers.

By the way, put money on the Browns to win this week.

So which is it, only injury or if they hit the wall that they likely will like you mentioned?

Those are the only ways he doesn't win MVP. Another possibility is that the voters give the award to Brees if the race is close considering he has put up numbers no quarterback has in NFL history throughout his career yet has never won a MVP. Despite the fact I don't exactly like the Saints, I can respect Brees as a person. I believe he likely is deserving of the MVP if his and Mahomes statistics are similar, if for no other reason than the fact he won't be going home with a Super Bowl again because we will beat them in the Divisional Round of the playoffs this year.

I'd rather Brees get it than Mahomes honestly.  Don't care for the Saints but it'd be kind of shitty for Brees to go down as one of the greatest QBs in NFL history yet never win an MVP.  Lol then when he's having one of his best seasons ever and his best chance to finally win the award... some upstart 1st year QB comes out of nowhere with a dream team offense around him in a system designed to make QBs look better than they are from one of the best head coach QB gurus of all time... yeah, just give it to Drew if it's even close by season's end.  I'm not convinced Mahomes is anywhere close to as good as his numbers suggest just yet.  As much as I dislike the Saints, Brees is a known quantity and that team would have been perennial cellar dwellers the past decade without him.
