Cedric Benson says Bears spread rumors about him...

"I heard all the rumors that were said coming out of Chicago," the Bengals running back said during a conference call. "Even the Bengals said they would call and inquire about me and get nothing but negative things ... that I didn't work hard, that I was, I guess, a prima donna, didn't work hard on the field, just wasn't focused.

Yeah, none of that was accurate about his time in Chicago...

The Bears, btw, deny spreading any such rumors about him

He acted like a bitch, was a prima donna, expected the starting spot to be just given to him without having to work for it and earn it and when he did get on the field, he hardly produced except for in the second half of the Super Bowl season...

So, I feel all of the statements are pretty dead-on accurate.

I'm confused. Where's the rumor part? :sosp:

I've also heard him say the Bears "blackballed" him. I'd be "blackballed" too if I had done my job the way he did while he was in Chicago.

Benson isn't the first guy to experience a rebirth after being lousy in his first stint. I'm happy for him in that regard. I'd be happier if he'd just man up and admit that the issues he had were his own fault rather than just saying "they talked mean about me."

Some people will always look for an excuse or someone to blame for their misfortunes... some will pick up what they have left and try to make the most of it and re-make themselves and move on.

For a moment this season, I thought that the latter applied to Cedric, but obviously not

He now has to claw himself out of the hole that is Cincinnati. If he can admit loosing his Chicago job was due to his own actions the better he'll be come free agency.Even Ochocinco wanted out. To join his buddy Steve perhaps...

As a Panther fan that would be an excellent trade but who the h*#l wants to go to Cincinnati? Nothing against Cincinnati...

Ochocinco and Smith would make us deadly. How much double teaming could they do? 85,89,34,28,88,47.

I think Jakes main problem is everybody has studied him and Steve to death already. Pressure Jake he'll force a wobbler to Smith, pick six, yeah yeah.

Ced 1, Bears zero.

If Cedric ever ran with that kind of patience, vision and tenacity, he would still be a Bear. The fact is that he did not. He's playing well now, and I congratulate him... but to say that he was anywhere near this production level when he was in Chicago is both a lie and delusion.

The Bears should hire the above. And as long as I'm here, thanks for Frank Omiyale Carolina!....not. The guy is a freakin' turnstyle!!.

Honestly, the same applies to this administration. I've grown beyond sick of hearing about the mess that was left for them. Move on and try to make a difference.

    • The retirement thing is just a convenient excuse from Tepper. I'm sure if the team was trying to bring him on officially he would do it in a heartbeat and the league wouldn't bat an eye at it. He's not getting any other calls and we know there's a direct line of communication. You telling me no other team has put up a photo of an active player who left? I have a hard time believing the league would flag a MVP display, literal team history, as tampering. Moving on from JR is clearly bull too when we're parading Luke and Smitty around. It's Cam. Tepper knows that if Cam is brought on in any capacity, as long as he looks athletic to the average fan there's going to pressure to put him in when we're struggling at QB. They've decided he's not worth that but I think is a huge mistake. The organization stands to lose more burning this bridge than he does.
    • I've been here through it all my friend. So when I say I've seen how this turns out folks really should listen. But they won't. So I continue to be entertained by fair weather fans that talk down to me as if I don't know squat. That's fine. Their in for some painful reality checks.
    • Because Chinn Is not a God Damn Free Safety! He is a Strong Safety/LB and none of our coaches could figure that out.
