Browns fire Hue Jackson

I mean, what did they think was going to happen? Tyrod Taylor was going to come out, take them 5-2 and let their Rookie come on slowly?

I mean if they squeak out 6 wins like the Panthers did Cams first season and finish strong that’s a win.

Hue should not have made it to this season at all,... 1-31 as a head coach is something there is no kind of excuse for, not even in Cleveland,.

but if you are going to take him into the season,.. and roll with Tyrod until Baker, and get all the new editions gellin,..you don’t fire him midseason,..

Actually now that I say it like that, makes too much sense,..

so im going to speculate now that Hue did or said something to the ownership,.. maybe Todd Haley too

they crossed line behind closed doors with something.

otherwise it’s just too dumb

Hue should've remained the coach because the Browns roster was worse than an expansion team in his first two seasons. They finally give him some talent, start a rookie receiver, rookie QB, and rookie RB, some quality defensive talent, and then fire him. The reason being because there was a rift between Jackson and management due to the fact that Jackson wasn't able to pick his own offensive coordinator. They picked Haley and basically told Jackson to figure out a way to work with him despite his history with Ben and the Steelers coaching staff.

The NFL is full of games that are more often than not decided by one score. The Browns going to 4 OT games thus far this season suggests that they aren't far off, and starting as many rookies and second year players as they are, having those close games is indicative of what would happen next season. In general, teams who lose those close games one season will often have bounces fall on the other side of the W-L the next. Teams that win those close games generally regress back to the mean the following season. The fact that they didn't keep Jackson around to at least see if he could develop Baker without Haley the rest of this season is a bad sign for any Head Coach going to Cleveland.

Ownership should turn over all Coaching Staff decisions to the Head Coach and allow the Head Coach to coordinate with the GMin regards to personnel. The Panther model has worked with Cam and Rivera in terms of continuity and allowing rifts in the coaching staff to never be an issue. Shula departing was long overdue and in that instance, the GM and ownership can make a recommendation. However, for the sake of the team and it's performance, the head coach needs coaches in there that they can trust. Jackson - Haley wasn't that.
