Have we done enough to beat the Saints?

Carolina almost pulled off a win in the playoff game last year with receivers like Kaelin Clay and Brenton Bersin. They're much improved at receiver and plus they added Donte Jackson and Eric Reid to the secondary. It will be a tough game but I think they can beat the Saints.

It's still gonna be a shootout unless we can get pressure with our front four, which we can't. We can compete with the Saints though, and the game will come down to who gets the turnovers and runs the ball better.

we can dial up pressure.   Give Washington time to learn the job.   It will come.

People act like we have been a front 4 pressuring team the past few years.   We haven't.  Washington will figuring it out.

I mean, you can't "dial up" pressure against Brees or any of the other great QBs, at least not consistently. Even Cam has been slaying teams trying to blitz him this year. The only way you can control an offense like that is with dominance along the defensive line, and we just don't have that kind of group right now. We can beat the Saints, but it'll be a 34-31 kind of affair.

Yes they have. The only reason the Panthers didn't beat the Saints was they didn't have receivers that could get open. Now they do in spades. It won't be Kaelin Clay and Brenton Bersin running routes in crunch time. Add in an offensive coordinator that can actually out-scheme a defense, I really like the Panthers chances this time around.

I'm going to say yes.

I think our secondary can now hang with their WRs, especially with Ginn out. I suspect both Bradberry and Jackson will see some time on Thomas. Reid and Adams are going to have to play up a bit when we play them to keep Brees honest over the middle of the field, but I think we're okay on the outside and down the field.

Where we'll need to improve before we get to them, as has been said, is pass rush. I think we'll have to compensate with some nickel and LB blitzes, but we can get pressure. Because of our safeties playing up, we'll also have run support.

One thing I've noticed with the Saints is that they are trying to get a little cutesy with incorporating Taysom Hill. I get that he's a great athlete and all that and that he adds versatility and misdirection to their offense, but I don't think he'll be that difficult to gameplan when the time comes. I'd rather him be taking up a spot on the field than either Ingram, Kamara, or a WR tbqh, so bring it on.

I'm not sold on their defense being even decent. I think we should be able to move the ball on them.

They should be high scoring games, but I expect we'll be good enough to beat them at least once.

Yeah, this.

And we went 99 yards yesterday on the #1 defense in the league. A defense that held the Saints to 24 points. A team that only lost to the Saints by 1 point.

And yesterday, the game was never as close as the final score would suggest.

Right now, it's the Saints who should be looking nervously at us at the end of the season.

NO... we don't have enough to put pressure on Brees and get him off the spot. If this team is going to contend, we need a pass rusher or Brees/Goff are going to carve us up

For the record, @thebigcat is a Saints fan/troll (and sometimes patriots fan) that went by the user name “Alice” for a while.

No wonder the saints fan thinks we can’t beat the saints.

only calling him out because he pretends to be a panthers fan when he has proven he isn’t several times before.

They always run quick three step drops to nickel and dime us. The difference this time will be the available to keep that loser on the sidelines. They've been extremely lucky this year. They'll still get the katrina treatement in the dome against us, but we can get them at home, just need to make sure we don't go there in the playoffs again.

Looking at this team, it all doesn't matter until the last 3 weeks of the season and how do we beat the Saints (who we lost to 3x last year)...
the only major differences between us Then and us Now are...
1 WR corps: DJ & Samuel > Shepard & Bersin
2 Secondary: Reid & Jackson Coleman & Worley

Plain and simple - Are those 2 factors enough for us to beat the Saints?

yes we can beat the STs...
