You're giving Rivera more credit for the pick. The gm has the final say. Hurney could have overridden Rivera and selected Gabbert if he believed he was franchise qb material.

I said Ron told people he was taking Cam at his Pro Day. And Hurney agreed. Did Hurney go scout and watch Cam in that setting? No. He took Ron’s word. And made the right decision. What exactly are you looking for? Take it any way you want to make you happy. Give 100% credit to whoever you like. I just stated the events that actually happened. Did I say anything about Hurney not making the final decisions? You just hear his name and instantly go in “defense” mode. 

 Remember, one of us judges moves by their merit, and one judges them on which GM made them. Would you like me to prove that point again?

The GM usually gets all the credit and blame for draft picks. This is the way it works.

Butler - still can’t start. Wasted first round pick on a position we didn’t need - Trash.

Thompson - shown flashes, but couldn’t consistently start for us till this year. Might turn out to be good but 3 years later we aren’t sure yet.

meanwhile Hurney looks to have made 3 home runs in the last draft alone...

drafting matters, not saying Hurney is without his mistakes, he has, but his drafting success was actually on par for the I think it was #8 overall during Hurney v1.0(from memory based on last time this came up). It was Hurney’s FA spending and consistently over paying player that got him in trouble and Fired.

First of all, who are the 3 home runs in this draft? DJ Moore, Donte Jackson, and....? I know you’re not talking about Ian Thomas because of his training camp performance...he hasn’t done anything yet in his playing time, despite a lot of opportunity. Armanti Edwards was voted Training Camp MVP one offseason. I’m excited about his potential, but people way over-hype him on these boards relative to what he’s actually done...

Also, you can’t conveniently use the power of hindsight against Gettleman and in the same breath, praise Hurney’s draft based on less than half a season. Case in point: KB being “trash” despite his awesome rookie year...same thing can happen to any rookie.

I’m not a DG fan and I actually really liked Hurney’s draft and am excited about our rookies, but that whole post was extremely biased.
